Blizzard wants China

Blizzard Entertainment, creators of the popular MMO World of Warcraft has said it is committed to stay and expand its business in China, starting with the WoW expansion pack “The Burning Crusade”. But how will Chinas all mighty Internet police react if players choose to “fight for freedom” in WoW? Will China allow a democratic society (or a clan/guild), even if only in a game?

Interesting point, I think they’ll incorporate some sort of “filter”, so you can’t say freedom, democracy etc.

Why do people always bitch about China. Chinese censors this, Chinese censors that, I bet the person who wrote that shitty article has never been to China or even used the internet their! Europe has censorship online as well and so does Australia and other western countries but no forget our problems lets concentrate all the attention on China!
Oh and freedom, democracy does that mean the RIAA MPAA can extort cash from you, and by freedom does that mean Patriot act?

We’re talkin about censorship, not copyright infrigement. The fact that you cannot say the word “freedom” in China is just as shocking as the Patriot Act. If not worse, at least we can openly critisize the Patriot Act and everything else.

Haha, good poiny all around. But I’d say a good thing overall. More people on WoW simply means more community and more money for Blizzard. Which should mean better features. And while I personally PERFER Guild Wars, I’m still glad to see WoW doing alright, I always like Warcraft I and II.
