Chinas game market to hit 2 Billion in 2010

According to a new report from research and consultancy firm Niko Partners the Chinese gaming market will surpas 2 Billion in 2010, mostly due to huge increase in the MMO sector. That explains why Blizzard is so eager to get the WoW franchise to China.
“Chinese gamers’ passion for massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) has extended to the casual and premium casual segments,” said Lisa Cosmas Hanson, managing partner of Niko Partners. “Premium casual games provide new gamers greater access to the online game market and open up an alternate source of entertainment for hardcore gamers.”

Little input here, why are people so negative about Blizzard moving into China? Personally I think this is a great move. Yes, Blizzard makes millions with this move, but think a bit out of the box! The western world has two choices, it can either ignore China market completely and let the goverment close all access to Google(see related post comments) and restrict import on uncensored(read:non-altered) games… OR, yes we can ‘obay’ their censorship rules and bring western culture to the east, even if it’s limited or altered, it’s a move in right direction…
I’m not gonna get all political here and bash chinas communist party, but let’s face it, with moves like these things will probably change sooner to the better…
