PS3 and Xbox360 graphics are the same

The developer behind Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butchers Bay says that their upcoming next-gen game The Darkness looks the same on Xbox360 and PS3. They’re saying that the PS3 has a slightly more powerful CPU while the 360 has a slightly more powerful GPU.
Or perhaps it’s just developer Starbreeze that can’t get the full potential of both consoles?

PS3 CPU slightly more powerful than the 360 CPU? I wonder if that’s before or after the estimated 19% of CPU time reserved for the PS3’s OS.

I think the CPU is a lot more powerful, the Cell has 8 cores at 3.2 GHz, the Xbox360 has 3 cores at 3.2 GHz.

But if you look at current pc performance, it is more or less dicatated by what GPU you have and not your CPU. Both from a technical and a developers point of view it is more advantageous to have a better GPU than CPU as the majority of data you are processing in a game is graphical.

u got that wrong there, PS3 has only 1 core running at 3.2GHz and the 360 has 3 cores running at 3.2GHz eachPS3 has 8 SPE’s not cores.

‘Core’ this and ‘GPU’ that.. Look, most gamers don’t even care about that stuff. And for the price($600) that Sony plans on selling the PS3 for, it’s not going to make a difference how much gigs and rams or SPE’s it has to run it’s blue ray whatchumacallits on! Ask developers how they feel about all those gigs and cores. Then go check the list of canceled games.
