Wii Zelda: TP details emerge

Details on how Zelda: Twilight Princess will be controlled by the Wii controller have emerged on a few fan forums, and an email was dropped by to us regarding this information as well. I contacted Nintendo about some of these rumors and was given the standard “No commenting on rumors” reply. But it sounds realistic, and I would not be surprised if they were true.

  1. The Wii-wand/tv-remote/revmote (call it what you want) will be used for camera control. When “A” is pressed it will control your actions.
  2. “A” button (big one) will be used as lock-on targeting (The “L” buttons was used on GameCube). When locked on, the revmote will be used to swing your sword, use your bow or hook etc.
  3. The D-pad will be used as the original C-buttons for you inventory, since it’s right at your thumb.
  4. The “a” and “b” buttons will be used for camera control as well (see image)
  5. The nun-chuck add-on will be used for steering Link while the two buttons act like “A” and “B” on the GameCube.

Several sources indicate that this information comes from Nintendo contacts, but it’s not confirmed by Nintendo. It seems the optimal way of controling Link without too much confusion. Expect more (official) information at E3.

I am pretty sure the little a and b buttons wont be used and i think gesturing will come into effect where things like camera centering and free look are concerned.

[...] On some Nintendo fan forums, this picture pops up… it is believed by some that the information is straight from Nintendo… but it does lack some things. I would advise everyone to turn down this rumor as false, but who knows? Stranger things have happened. Read the original article here. [...]

I think that the new controller setup will be annoying but thats just my opinion, I want to get the GC version because of the controller but Im mad because I think the GC version will have less stuff than the Wii version.

The only problem is that the Twilight Princess was originaly made for the Game Cube, so will that make gameplay with the Wiimote worse, better, or the same. Also, if it does make it worse, is it possible to use a traditional controller, because they are being made for the Wii in order to play traditional games.(It is also possible that this could be different depending on if you get the GC or Wii versions).
