Microsoft announces HD-DVD for Xbox360

After much speculation, Microsoft has finally announced an external HD-DVD drive for the Xbox360, connected via USB.
But there is still a few questions; Where is the HDMI support? And what about 1080p support that Sony is putting its money on?
Still, if the drive ships at a reasonable price, it would be a big support in Toshiba’s HD-DVD camp.
