Microsoft Gives Up on Japan?

We have all heard about Peter Moore’s controversial “siding with Nintendo” issue. But, what about other markets? In the same story, Moore reveals some shocking information regarding Microsoft’s stance on the Japanese gaming market…
Moore expects upcoming role-playing games like “Lost Odyssey” and “Blue Dragon” from the creator of the popular “Final Fantasy” series to do well in Japan.
“Quite frankly,” said Moore, “if we’re sitting here a year from now and things continue to fall flat, then we might say ‘we don’t know what to do anymore.”‘
Could this mean the end of Xbox in Japan? Sales have always been sluggish for Xbox and Xbox360 in the Eastern market, as Sony and Nintendo steal all the glory. It could be possible that the Japanese market does not want to buy a console from a company that never had anything to do with video games before. There is also speculation that Xbox/360 has not been getting great sales figures because it is not an Asia based company. Some say that the games are all traditional Western games, such as First Person Shooters, a genre that has never been popular with Japan. You can read the entire article here.
