Curmudgeon Gamer has put up a nice comparison of consoles in video game history. Many people were shocked by Sony’s move to make the Playstation 3 $599 (or $499). Well, just look at the Neo Geo!

    Good point, but Sony has so many loyal fans that I doubt the PS3 will flop. it amy not sell well, but it certainly won’t flop.

    Great comparison! I have to say, that with as much attention as the PS3’s price tag is getting, do you think some consumers (obviously not the hard-core gamers, just the marginal buyers) might get turned off by that alone and not even bother checking out the features? I can’t imagine Average Mom walking into a store and choosing the PS3 for her kids when there are much cheaper alternatives available. Then again, I suppose that’s not Sony’s intended market with this console anyway. Well, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
