TheInquirer is reporting that the graphics processor powering the PS3 still isn’t running at full speed in latest dev kits Sony supplied developers with. The GPU, called “RSX” is made by nVidia based on the 7800 series. It’s expected to launch with a core speed of 550 MHz and the memory running at 700 MHz. Currently the GPU runs at 460 MHz and the memory ay 600 MHz. Seems to me most of the hardware should be finished by now, if Sony expects to ship 2 million consoles this fall.
