Gears of War 2 Coming
Gears of War lead designer Cliffy Bleszinski, or Cliffy B as many call him, recently said that as soon as Gears of War is finished, he’s starting on a sequel. Cliffy B was talking with Yahoo! News, where he let in on what he’ll be doing in the future, after Gears of War. “Gears of War 2, I’d imagine” Cliffy said.
Seems like Epic is confident that Gears of War will be a big hit, the game has already been hyped up as one of the most anticipated games coming to the Xbox360. Right after Halo 3, of course.

This won’t happen for quite some time. Their crews are all still working on UT2007 for PS3 and PC. But this is old news anyway. It wouldn’t even release till next year or the year after that.

I think that for the second gears u should have that extra weapon like the knife on dom chest. I mean if u put it there and we can’t use it it make me mad. Cause if u need to defend your self and u have a knife.

I still say they need to tweak the mechanics associated with the ‘A’ button … it just sucks to get stuck on things when you are running or latch up against the wrong cover or think you are going to latch onto cover and you don’t. Plus the regular weapons need more of a punch imo (shottie is okay … it could be a bit more powerful … it sucks when you need three shottie blasts to take down a boomer). And hopefully the story is more fleshed out.

i also rekon that they should put a few different styles of leaving cover, like when you jump over a small wall, have a couple of different moves of that, cause the AI can do it, i want to too. and it’d be cool if you impale your enemy on like bits of metal or wood pole…things

The other thing that they need to work on is that the host shot gun online because it such a bitch tp face the host online whern he have his shot gun out. You wouldn’t think that it would be that muchy of a different but it kill you from like across the room.

I think when you split up. you shoudl be able to deploy your AI soldier like in Rainbow Six Vegas. That way playing on levels on insanity would be a little bit more reasonable and would also challenge people to think a little different about how they strategize

they should add some more human weapons like a human rocket luancher and like heavy machine guns and crap like that, also the locust should have like a rifle thin and their futuristic baonet should be like a spike that pops in and out of the gun. it would be cool like they put their rifle to your face puch a button and a spike pops into your eye or somehting

I collected all the COG tags it just gives u an achievment adn gamerpoints, but what you do unlock in Gears is when you beat it in insane mode(ive done), you unlock a gamer picture. Its the picture that you can see when you beat it on any level, like the acievement named soldier and commander. Its that but the skull is the real colour (red) and marcus is infront! Very Cool. And for gEars of War 2, the shold put in a new member, that isnt fag, and just for an idea maybe make the new member and Marcus dislike eachother!

i thought campaign was fantastic IMO, great work on the game. there are a few minor x box live flaws tho, like when you chainsaw someone and u just get stuck there sometimes. ive fallen through the fuel depot map lol. and ive gotten stuck on a few walls when i went in for cover. other than that, great work epic. Looking forward to GOW 2.

I think its kinda cheap in gears when you get chainsawed. their should be o way to back fire it in numbuh 2. like both players tap the A butto as fast as possible. If The chainsawer wins he kills the second guy, but if the second guy wins he grabs the chainsaw and flips it back into the first’s guy face. If they tie the guy being chainsawed kicks the lancer and both players fall back stunned… then the fight continues.

Yeah I don’t agree with the plasma gun issue. I think one of the appealing things of the game is that they aren’t vry technologically advanced. Think it adds to the “realism” if ya know what I mean.

one thing that i will say should stay is the amazing accuracy of all the weapons, thats another reason i find it so good, no rifle that shoots somewhere over to the left when you dont it too, aewsoma power =)

Re: Davo? Accuracy??? Mwaa.. ha..ha.. that’s a misnomer if ever I heard one. How can a 3rd person shooter claim any accuracy with a game that includes no look shots that kill 50% of the time? It’s a tactical shooter not an FPS, fool. Most kills are close to the auto-fire assist games, Gears was ripped from. Like Kill Switch on PS2!
Besides only on Microflop’s X360 can a cheap 10 million dollar game rob it’s fans of so much money for so little story. It’s online is slow, laggy and glitchy as hell. It’s game play repetitive and monotonous after the first run through. Game time is a scant 7 hours total on Hardcore (prolly 5 to 6 on casual). Oh it took me just over 9 hours to rip through in Insane mode after I unlocked it. Like wow, how boring! Still hardly a challenge even with the crap X360 controller to deal with! It ain’t no FPS tha’s for sure. Accuracy of weapons? Mwaa..ha..ha.. what a joke!
Sorry ***no name***, but been there and done that, and it ain’t all that. So they can keep it on X360! PS3 will have 10 times better games like “The Getaway 3″, MGS4, Alliance: The Silent War, God of War PS3, to name just a few.
You want graphics realism? Check out “Getaway 3″ videos showing off the graphics effects only available on DX10 cards in Vista and of course the Sony PS3. Want life like lighting? HDR at it’s finest with double the 64bit available on X360 at 128bit. That’s close to touchable. X360? Can’t touch this!

they should have more like human weapon like a rocket launcher and the locust should have some more weird and crazyier weapons and they should have their own version of the chainsaw gun but different like a spike that can pop out of the gun. like when they get up close and hold B they can like mele thme a few times and then they fall to their knees and then they stick the gun to there head and a spike comes out and right into the face.

I agree the game fricken rocks. But i wanna fight one of those huge monsters with the turrets that chase u at the end of act 4.
There should be a new kind of locust assasin thing that has chainsaws attached to his sleeves.

a water/ocean/river or wateva level would be cool, but then there wouldnt really be anywhere to move really, maybe if you come across water obstacles like inbetween everything else in the level, so like when your finding the junker, that little barge thing, have that kinda water area, i unless there was an all out war scene i think water levels should stay at minimum…though i just contradicted wat i first said…oh well

This site was the first to announce Saints was no longer an exclusive for X360, now on PS3. They also broke the news on MGS4 remaining exclusive to PS3. Plus FFXIII as well. Then they follow that up with X360 losing War Devil to even release on X360. Now it’s a PS3 console exclusive.

Gears of War is great, but should indeed be longer. The story is in depth enough, but i think that they could expand on this much more for a single game. I know they r comming out with GOW 2, but it would be nice if i would really take one or two weeks to beat on insane. Not to the point where u die every 30 seconds, but to the point that there are more acts. 5 is great. 10 is better. GOW ROCKS!

I would like to see some kinda close range attachment on the shotgun ie a flamethrower or knife etc, a move to use in close range with the shotgun ie shoving ur barrel in2 a locust’s gob and firing, a move to lob the toque bow explosive when u get hit by it, and a way to block off locust chainsaw attacks on u!

First off, the shot gun is a close range weapon, it does not need an attachment. As for when the game will come out, I think it will be within 6 months. The makers of GOW is too heavily pressured and expected to come out with GOW2 that there is no way they could not come out with it.

This site was designed for people to voice their opinion on anything in any game if they want. They certainly don’t try to keep Xsnots from thrashin on Sony PS3 or it’s games! Seems to be the only kind of fans X360 has. Can’t win on the consoles own merits so they all thrash the competition.
If Xbots and Xsnots had any sense they’d keep from posting negatives on everything that comes up for PS3. I guess that’s too much to ask for. So Jealousy of a better system has you getting just rewards from people like me!
The Sad Truth:
Gears of War is a crap game on a crap system, born in a crap year with few games to compete. Oblivion would have been a better choice for “Game of Year” and anyone with a life knows it! Where’s the storyline of an Oblivion, FFXII especially of God of War (that took “Game of Year” last year?)? Where’s the game play of a game the like God of War II? Fake plastic graphics with limited online play and too little play time in single player, does not a great game make! Few weapons and a stolen combat system from Killswitch of PS2 just means they’re following in M$ footsteps of theft, lies and cheats!
Gears is NOT a great game, plain n simple! Get over it, before you get a real game that shows it for what it is! If you think it is, you haven’t played any great games!!! It’s that simple!!!
How does M$ do it? Well anything can be bought for a price in this country and right now M$ is spending more on selling it’s junk system and games than on the games themselves. Plus the lies, and hype required to win at any cost. And it’s Oblivious to you bafoons who live in dreamland where you can make believe you have a good system and games that don’t exist. So it just takes one outstanding game, like “God of War II” to put you back in your place, in the dungeons of hell where you belong.
Because with games like God of War II out on PS2, it’ll take twice as much money for M$ to buy “Game of Year” this time around. You’re still competing with PS2, remember? Don’t forget the console X360 barely outsold for one single month out of the whole year is still alive. PS2 sold more than twice the consoles of the X360 for the year and sold 50 times more games than any console in history since it launched! Fact not Fiction boys!
Top Game Sales of Gears for one fricken month!!! While Guitar Hero, Madden (PS2) and Final Fantasy XII and too many to list, took overall sales for the year. PS2 has no lack of great games to play ever. It sold more games for the entire year absolutely with no argument even posible.
Stands to reason that with over a 100 million PS2 owners and over 2 million PS3 owners, that “God of War II” will break all records for sales on any console in history for a single game! GeOW2 will be a poor substitute for the Real GoW II on PS2 and PS3! Don’t believe me? Read what IGN alone says:

you guys are forgetting the main thing: REVIVAL!!! your teammates should be that – your TEAM mates!!! they should be able to revive you at all times. also would be cool if you could keep switching between different players, e.g. if ur marcus and you die you become Dom, and then you can revive marcus and be him again if you wish or carry on playing as Dom..also increase the teammates intelligence and accuracy a LOT..
the rocket launcher that the boomers carry suck so badly, i’d like to see that become ten times more powerful. i’d like to see a greater variety of weapons but human only NO stupid plasma shit lets not spoil this..
torque bow arrows should not fire automatically, they should fire when released..
when throwing grenades you should be able to see the line of throw a lot better, especially for throws that are far away..
and Monarky: don’t be so jealous. if you don’t like the game, which you obviously do, then why are you on these forums? i never bother cussing games i hate so maybe you’re just really sad and a certified M$ hater? i hate them too, but come on man, credit where credits due, GoW is a great game!! try http://www.gamespot.com or any such website..

GOW is an awsome game but in a sequeal they shouldnt ruin it by putting hi-tech weapons they should stick to realistic that is wot makes the game the realism mybe put in flame throwers or petrol bombs so you can watch the enemy run around on fire and be able to pick up debri like car parts and rocks imagine instead of curbstumpping being able to twat a downed enemy with a lump of metal and also make the enviroment more interactive like if you granade near a car the car explodes to and any1 stood to close

in the game, one of the weapons should be that huge sword that the queen kills kim with, and make the scope button rb because nobody uses it and clicking the analog stick gets annoying. and make more and sicker guns and make a knife bayonet on the shotgun. And i was thinking that you should make a gaers of war chainsaw gun as a gadget for xbox 360.

On the whole xbox 360 vs ps3 debate. wil said a few a posts ago that “xbox360 is way better”. That just isn’t true my friend. Monarky I’ afraid, is correct. Even down to the smallest spec, it is by no means true. I like the xbox, i own one and I also do think that Gears is an amazing game, and its bullshit that the online play isnt up to standard, it is very good also. I also believe though that if both consoles were released together the 360 would be already obsolete. And thats my fifty cents

What about a flare gun? You could use it instead of shooting barrels, and if you shoot it at an enemy, it sets them on fire. On multiplayer you could use it to get across areas on maps with dark areas with krill, i mean how cool would it be killing i a locust with a flare, and then use his burnt corpse to use as light. Good idea?

I think that the multiplayer on the next GOW should have team battle where u play like a team deathmatch with like 4 people and computer oppponents so you dont have to go online to go against your friends and have a cool battle if this actually happens it will be the best thing that happens to the xbox!!!! please do it!!!

I think that the story mode should be made a lot longer, you should be able to choose your own path in missons which change the out come of the game! This is an FPS not an RPG though so I don’t think that the character customization is a big issue for the SP campaign at least … it wouldn’t work because the cut scenes are already set. But maybe for MP it could but this doesn’t seem like the genre for such things. I dunno though it could possibly work.

Just curious where you heard that info. Last time I checked CliffyB hadn’t been doing anything the last two years but Gears and UE4 is still very very early in development with only Tim Sweeney having worked on it. Do you have a link by any chance … and from what CliffyB has been saying about the power of UE3 and the Xbox 360 platform I am almost positive that Epic will be using UE3 once again for Gears 2. In fact just last week there was an article on firingsquad where CliffyB was saying that Gears can definitely be better looking on the 360 (and no he was not talking about using a different engine).

Well Anuban work on the Unreal Engine 4 has been in development for almost 4 years. I used to go to: http://www.unrealtechnology.com/html/homefold/home.shtml
Their website since about 5 years ago. It has changed dramatically and they don’t have anything related to UE4. But I guess that’s expected when your selling an engine and you don’t want to upset present customers.
But the announcement that Tim Sweeney had been already working on UE4 for two years first surfaced at E-3 2005. I enclosed a link to a statement from Softpedia on this from August 2005. Last at the Unreal Tournament Forums site, that I’m a member of and visit quite regularly, Mark said that CliffyB was testing UE4 in one of their future games and that it would have a full development team in 2007.
Since then all of Marks references have been edited out from their own forums. But I just suspected that game they were testing UE4 on was either Gears 2 or UT3! Like I said earlier it’s only obvious they don’t want to upset people who have already bought UE3 with news that they themselves were already transiting their own games into UE4, so what we might hear is something like another 3.5 thing like with UE2.5!
Consider that prior to more recently that they had no DX10 support in UE3. I was shocked that they recently announced that they would indeed support be supporting DX10 in a now last generation engine. id software said they would not be supporting DX10 in their newest engine.
So what is Epic doing? Completely rewriting UE3 or will the next Gears be the test bed for UE3.5 or UE4. UT3 is way too far along and most like be either pure UE3 or actually include some UE4 features.
They got that nice new 30,000 sq ft building. What do you think they could be using to test Tim Sweeney’s UE4 work? They have to be using something, afterall they were testing UE3 out on Gears well over 3 years ago! Anyway it’s food for thought and no doubt UE4 is not sitting wasting in the basement. Especially with the hiring they’ve been doing!

This doesnt happen too often but you know how if you are waiting for an enemy that doesnt know your there and your gonna blow his face off with the shotgun. Anyway it is food for thought and you are probably correct that now with more time having passed and the success of the UE3 platform more programmers are doing work on UE4 than just Tim. I don’t see where CliffyB comes in though … except maybe to test it out and use the level development tools. He is NOT a engine programmer so I can’t see him actually working on the development of the UE4. Maybe though he is giving input on the tools or the features the engine will support.

GoW2 Needs to make the lancer more powerful. I mean it takes a whole mag to kill a fuckin drone locust. Also the locust needs there own weapons. Mabey some gun similiar to the lancer but has a huge spear on the end and it can stab u in the stumach. The boomer needs way more splash damage too. Over all the game needs more everything, more weapons, more levels online, more campaing, more locust!! Does anyone think a flamethrower would be cool??

finally someone else who sees that the lancer is a seriously underpowered assault rifle. It should be twice as powerful then it would be perfect. And yes … for a game like this a flamethrower would be perfect. I seriously don’t understand how they overlooked that in the first place. It would really be great and actually somewhat realistic (well realistic for this kind of genre if you go by the established formulas) for boss battles indoors where you can’t use the hammer of dawn. But it would be fun in just about all situations. Hopefully this is one weapon they do include. It just fits this game so perfectly. Good suggestion. I am also hoping for a cover system more like R6V (as long as it isn’t the general purpose A button again) so you don’t get stuck against cover as much inadvertently … especially when you are doing the roadie run.

In some ways I have to agree with monarchy. The downfall of the xbox360 is not the console itself but the lack of interest developers have in making games for it. The console is alomost in its 3rd year and there is but a handful of decent games for it, with Oblivion, RSLV, GRAW and GoW being the only ones which spring to mind. The majority of games released are sloppily-made, lacklustre to play and a very far cry from Next-Gen gaming. Developers seem to be stretching their limps, and trying to make some pocket-money for when PS3 really spreads its wings and game development enters a new era.
I’m from Europe and ps is to released on friday. Its launch games include Resistance, RSLV and MotorStorm to name but a few. To be closely followed by God of War2, and MGS4. So you can’t really justify calling the PS3 a heap of shit. But then again there’s a time and place for xbox-bashing and this obviously isn’t it. So yeah, in that aspect monarchy can fuck right off. And GoW is a fantastic game. peace.

Uh you are wrong on a few points my friend and as a 360 owner I feel I have to clarify some things for you. First of all the 360 is basically just entering the 2nd year NOT 3rd year. It came out November 2006 so it exactly 16 months old. How you jump from less than a year and a half to three is beyond me but that was totally off.
Also I don’t know what you mean by only a handful of good games … you couldn’t be more incorrect. Games are a matter of taste in the first place and just because you only like 4 out of over 100 titles shows that you need to expand your horizons because once again you are totally incorrect. Every 360 owner I know and even around the net agrees that there is now a very good selection of games available for the 360 and it is only going to get better in the coming months. Let me name some other well reviewed and well respected titles for you … and yes these are all next gen … (maybe YOU are expecting too much?):
GRAW2, F.E.A.R., Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Crackdown, DOA4, PGR3, Condemned, Dead Rising, CoD2, CoD3, Prey, Guitar Hero II, NBA 2K7, Lost Planet, Test Drive Unlimited. And other people would add some others (Saints Row comes to mind immediately as well as more sports titles).
And there is sooo much coming that I can’t believe you used the words “downfall” and 360 in the same sentence. You are completely off base about the lack of interest devs have in the 360. Have you been keeping up with what the MAJORITY of the top developers have said about developing on the 360 vs the PS3 … I highly doubt it. You may want to recall that the PS3 is losing exclusives to the 360 (they both are actually but the PS3 has more to lose). So with games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Stranglehold, Dark Sector, Halo 3, Spiderman 3, Forza 2, The Darkness, Shadowrun, UT3, HL2:Orange, GTA IV, Lost Odyssey, and Timeshift coming, just to name a few, the 360 is in very good shape. Game development has already entered a new era … the PS3 is not the beginning … it is actually late to the party.
And finally God of War 2 is NOT a PS3 launch title … I don’t know where you got that idea but you are incorrect about that. It is a PS2 game … the last of the major ones I might add. At least with more time passing you get to buy more games than the US had available … of course many of the launch PS3 titles in Europe have been available on the 360 for a bit … in some cases months.
I find it funny how you say this isn’t the pace for xbox-bashing but it seems like you were doing your fair share. Unlike many 360 owners I am certain that at some point the PS3 will start to do well but until it does people should stop being so angry with MS for being in the lead this time around (even if it is only temporary they are the leaders of the next gen as of this moment).

Nice post, but seven of those games are on both platforms. Vitisku was just pointing out that God of War was launching in Europe, at the same time as PS3 with HD upconversion (graphics are already great on this game, and how PS2 can pull this off is amazing). So it is like a PS3 launch there. After finishing the game recently, I don’t know how the game can be any better. But you do have some other good points in there.
Now don’t get me wrong people it’s not that I hate the X360, but it is true I hate Microcrap and their “AOL to Hell” closed proprietary way of doing things.
After my efforts in using Vista as a main Desktop have ended in total frustration with DRM hell and countless failures to install things. It’s apparent that their logic there is as flawed as the “Zune” is sure to flop because of it. I’ll stick with WinXP and Linux!!!
I am one of those people that got a very bad introduction to the X360 via BSOD’s and “Error 71″ Brickings of my consoles. But aside from that they now have some good games coming out including “Devil May 4″ that was recently anounced as Multi Platform. Right now the crossover bleeding is about even for both platforms at last count and doesn’t bother me. Rumours are that Lost Planet and Bio Shock will come to PS3, so lose one gain two. I’ll enjoy playing “War Devil”, “Alliance: The Silent War”, etc. that were going to be on X360 too. Those you can blame on M$ demands on only using DX API’s and shunning Open Source API’s!!!
I will no doubt play Mass Effect on my buddy’s X360 and Halo 3, and he has been playing GoD II, Resistance, Virtual Fighter, GT-HD, Motorstorm, etc. on my PS3. Yes I did like playing ***Gears***, but it’s certainly not the greatest game ever on any platform. I think if all you like are shooters than the X360 for the price is a good machine (will be better when 65nm chip comes out). Plus it’s getting some very good SciFi type games I wish PS3 had more of! But it’s tuff to beat the variety of games coming to PS3. It’ll still be King of RPG’s and Adventure/Action games like MGS4, God of War III, White Knight Story and FFXIII!!!

So what some of those games are on both platforms … that doesn’t matter at all. I was just letting that person know that there are good games for the 360. I could care less if they are on other platforms or not. All I know is that there are some great games for the 360 … moreso than for the PS3 … and the 360 is kicking the PS3’s butt. That is a fact. And as far as exclusives go the PS3 has been hurt far more than the 360 by the loss of exclusives. So the fact is the 360 is a great gaming console and the PS3 still has some proving to do. It is tough to beat the variety of games on the 360 … it has everything … but yes it is true that the PS3 will get some of those goodies as well. Bottomline is that if you like the PS3 that is fine but stop trying to convince people that the 360 is inferior to it … because it ain’t baby and at the moment it is leaving the PS3 in the dust. This is just how it is … maybe next year things will be different but for now 360 is still on top of the next gen world. And Lost Planet will not be going to the PS3 anytime soon. Those rumors are just that … RUMORS. Meanwhile all the titles going to the 360 that was only going to be on the PS3 is confirmed.

I agree with the 4 player-coop mode. How cool would it be playing it with 3 of your buddies yelling at each other to shoot or take cover?? The bad part would be that when one person dies in Gears of War, you have to start back at the check point. That could get frusterating if even one of your friends died. They’d have to work that out in some way, like a time period of a minute or when 2 guys die. But that would be cool.

I’m not saying the X360 doesn’t have some great games. But I am saying that M$ is a Bullshit at Hardware. I’ve had that proved to me twice. Here’s a link that shows some diehard X360 fans burning through many more brick doorstops for emphasis. And Anuban even with losing some exclusives, the lists of games coming out for PS3 over the X360 over the next two years is over 2 to 1!
That’s a fact and I would be glad to get the list to compare side by side. Because Sony has been out gathering more first party Devs (again just with like PS2) than Microsoft has even bothered to dream about. “Little Big Planet” is just one game coming from the new crop of Devs come onboard Sony’s Dream Team. M$ relies on outside game development sources and you know it.
One great multi platform developer like Epic just can’t compare. You can’t count the number of custom Game Engines on PS3 and you can count custom engines on X360 on your fingers!
I would put money on Bio Shock and Lost Planet coming to PS3!!!!

I wouldn’t bet on the PS3 seeing Lost Planet or Dead Rising but I could be wrong. Bioshock is something that I could see happening down the line but us 360 owners will have already played it. You PS3 owners don’t seem to care that you are getting so many games later than us 360 owners (and I guess you really shouldn’t … the point is you do eventually get to play the same games and in 99% of the cases they look the same and the 360 has the better online features … still don’t see a reason to get a PS3 yet). Yes reliability is an issue with a great many 360’s … I won’t lie about that … I had to buy a new one recently when my Launch one died after 14 months of perfect operation … this is one area MS has to address since I admit I haven’t heard about many PS3 systems dying after a short time. And yes please show me and others this list of games that shows the PS3 having twice as many over the next two years. I would like to see that please. What custom game engines are there for the PS3 vs the 360? Not the PS2 the PS3. You need more than 10 fingers for the 360 I know that. Not every game is an UE3 game … actually at the current moment only two are: Gears and R6V. The rest are customer engines: PD0, F.E.A.R., GRAW, Dead Rising, Sports games, MUA, Crackdown, Oblivion, LOTR:BFME, and the list goes on.

The two are probably more even than either of us think Anuban. If either company wasn’t putting out competitive consoles it would be a sad world. Rivalry and competition is what drives the inovation on both sides to be better. I don’t see Nintendo in the same level of competition. Not that they’re bad, just different.
I will buy another X360 when the new chip comes out. I’m chatting with a gaming friend who works in Singapore on that new chip in the “Clean Room”! Besides being a great PC gamer, he has an X360 but not a PS3. But they haven’t been released there yet. Same as Australia. Loves his Xbox 360, but hates Vista!!! LOL and I warned him! WinXP Forever!

They better have double the weapons, maybe like some sort of flamethrower, but kooler than just an ordinary flamethrower, like fire grenades, or an actual rocket launcher that not some stupid boomshot like weapon, and they could have swords or knives to decapatate peoples heads as a finishing move, and dont forget, no gears of war game is complete without glitches, glitch to make you balance on someones head with your arm or something like that, thad be kool.

Gow is a beastly game I love it. For gow 2 now glitchin that crap pisses me off. People always complain about host shotty well the host lancer is 10 times better you can down people in 20 shots with active reload. where a normal lancer takes 40.

i think gears of war 2 should have an option so that wen online playing a ranked match if people leave the game whcih tends to happen you can join the other team to make the numbers even again otherwise winning is to easy or the host leaves the game and you dont get ur points. the new gears of war should have some main new weapons flash grenades would be awesome along with throw-able knives . you could hit the guy in the head (would kill him) and go pull it out of the brute’s temple (forehead). The game should also let you play as the locusts to give a 2 sided view of the battles. a grenade with tear gas would also be helpful in the game.

Hopefully there will be vehicles in GOW 2 cause that’d make the game even more fun. Also I hope there’s more hand to hand combat. That’d be fun. What would be really cool is if you could see a map of the world to see what it looked like after the Locust attacked. When you watch the last scene after you’ve beaten campaign, you see all the jagged mountains and lava and it looks like a bomb had hit Earth. (Possibly could have)

I’m still wondering why MS doesn’t take advantage of some other technology they own already for Xbox Live. Why not use the WebTV Browser in Live? It beats both the PSN one and the Wii’s Opera derivitive hands down for a Intranet Browser. It built perfectly for a Live Network use and the Internet is already prepared to be viewed by it by a whole lot of sites!!!
But yeah a controlable drone in the game that was like a..hum ****** Earth!!! Take that idea to Epic’s forums for Gears! Why not make it a weapon too? similiar to UT2k4’s Redeemer! With both one for just for recon and one with a nuclear warhead. I loved having Redeemer Wars nuking each other from afar!!!

The shotgun for the host of a game is too powerful. It can kill you in one hit from very far away. A lot farther than a normal shotgun can. Some people say the balance is even because even if the shotgun is more powerful for the host, the host can’t glitch. But I already know people who have figured out a way to chainsaw glitch even if they’re the host. So it can be all around unfair sometimes. It’s annoying. That needs to be fixed.
For the campaign, it Clearly needs to be longer as many people have said. Also, there has to be more bosses. There’s only two bosses in the game. The Corpser and General RAAM. They’re extremely easy also.

I heard GOW 2 is coming out sometime around July, and Halo 3 isn’t coming out until November. The sales will be down for GOW 2 by that time and people will move on to play Halo 3. So those people who love both games, you won’t have to worry which one you’ll save your money for and which one you’d rather play if they had been both released around the same time.

plasma is for chumps it makes the game wayyy to out there, maybe some night fighting world be nice allow the locusts to see in the dark and give cogs night vision and let em’ go. Like i said before, there should be a reverse side when you play as locust in missions. then you can make the game a little longer and more challenging. Also you should be able to use shrapnel for weaponry shoot up a wooden table for sharp planks of wood. then you can chuck em’ at the enemy impaling them through the gut. MORE BLOOD AND GORE!!!!

gears of war is a great game……cant wait for part 2..it took me a long time to get to the bottom of the page cause a certain person keeps posting his same comments (Monarky) every one else is putting there comments about gears..you just keep talking about how better ps3 is and that is going to take alot of games from 360 and how M$ sucks and so on so on…….half the stuff u said are crap..i have a 360 n ps3 i like both systems..the sad thing i that i havent played my ps3 in over 3 month..i beat all the games for it n there r no other games am intereted in..it has great graphics but none of the games that are out push the system to the limit..i spend 600 for a system that half of its games were exclusive n now i find out that certain of its game r going to 360(devilmcry,ac 4,gta4,ff)and yes the creator of MG$ said it on a interview with IGN that MG will see 360 n even Wii..the stats say the ps3 will beat the 360 in 2010 when they get more killer games and are able to use the systems advance graphics to the limit but until then the 360 is way ahead in the market has a lot of good games and its the only system with the best online gaming so far..am still waiting ps3……………………………………….

i don’t think they should b a jumping button cuz i find them aren’t realalistic in war games like halo 2 great game but the jumps r way to high. U should b able 2 drive more vehicles like a helicopter or a tank cuz that other tank pissin me off cuz u got 2 stop and shoot. in gow 2 there should be maps on xbox live that r a lot bigger and have tanks and all types of viechles with mounted machine gun and all that shit. u should also be able to do more with the chainsaw like sawing off your enemies head, or there arms or legs. u also should be able to keep a weapon to melee like u no how left on the d-pad is to take out ur shotgon right for your lancer well u should be able to equipe a knife or something by tapping up on the d-pad twice. there deffinatly should be bigger uglier and tougher locoust creatures. some that r hidious and would scare the shit out of anyone maybe with blades coming out of there face or something real demented and shit. maybe not in the 2nd but maybe in the 3rd gow u should find out that female voice is that seems to be in control of the locoust.one other thing u should be able to pick anything up on the ground and use it to kill the locoust.
p.s. make the game more difficult and LONGER. it took me like 3 days to finish it on in insane with a friend. other than thah it was the greatest game i have ever played!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, I think the game is great. I do wish, however, that there was more variety in the terrain and the buildings were more accessible in versus mode. It would be much better to go inside a building, climb some stairs and snipe/spot from a window or the roof. A grapple hook here would make quick access to the roof to take out snipers. Some rolling hills to snipe from behind would be great also. I agree too that if it’s strapped to your chest, you should be able to use it.
Another variation would be to play GOW from the Locust view point. I’m not sure I agree with adding vehicles as the maps in general are small and I don’t need to jump into a vehicle to drive around a building. If the maps were any bigger, you would only have to spend more time running around to find the last kill.

i agree with DdlD Dallas with having a good Sniping spot becouse the Spiner is the best gun in the game but i still think that we should have more vihicle in xbox live and vs. mode kinda like in halo 1 and 2 were u got like jeeps and stuff. I think the logest should have some war machines to like tanks and stuff. And in xbox live and vs. mode they should have a course were one side is cog and the other side would be a logest fort and like 3 or 4 cog vihicles would be on the cog side and 3 or 4 logest vihicle would be on they’re side and you would have like a no mans land in the middle and they’ll be some snipers around too.

you people are so stupid. Gears of war started the 3rd person revolution. It is impossible to compare it to halo 2 otherwise known as Gaylo 2. Halo is unrealistic and has a horrible plots graphics and of course guns. you cant add maps because unlike halo, the gayest game made, GOW unless annex is a one kill knockout round game. So cars and shit dosent work because it would have alot of draws. If you had the GOW 2 design team trapped in an elevator with you, what would you have to say about Gears of War 2?
As for me I would start with this…
The shotgun as a backup weapon from the start of the regular game would be cool.
The multiplayer arenas need more choke points and blind corridors. More concealment options like dark shadows, craters you can duck into and jump out of or semi hidden overlooks you can climb up to and quickly bail out of.
Any good stronghold needs at least one option to flank it. Inversely if you’re hold up in said stronghold and want to flank the enemy at your gates, a back door that dumps you out on their 6 would be great. I have lost count of how many times an enemy has doubled back to their respawn point and hold up in it. I get tired of the same corner battle with the same ending. Wait them out or toss a grenade and rush in. I understand the need for a protected little nook for a team to respawn and regroup, but there could be a back door with a one way drop down exit. There could also be a loud kickable door that has to be kicked several time to get in from outside. This would give the home team time to duck out if they wanted or reposition to fight the flankers. “We got company.”
Let there be light… and shadows. More low angle lighting. There are some spots in the arenas where you can see an enemy’s shadow from way around a corner, but they can’t see your shadow at all, because of the lighting angle. This rocks, if you are quick enough to exploit it. What if the position of the sun and other lighting changed at each restart? Then the location of concealing shadows and the approach angle of blind corners would change. More shadows. Come on people, there’s like an entire hour of the camp game with dark shadows and killer krill. “Swim away!!” None of these elements are well used in the multiplayer arenas. Ok, so maybe some sharpshooter is hiding in said shadow and no one is good enough to follow the air tracer back to his or her position. So, what if hidden spots expired as revealing lighting flickered randimly once in a while? What if snipers expired as krill swooped down into the shadows once in a while? “It’ll be dark soon and those things’ll be commin’ out… and then its game over man, game over!”
Let there be danger. Put some hazards in the arenas. Aftershocks that crack trenches into the ground. Collapsing catwalk, falling water tower, blue ice or whatever. The krill would be cool. There are some other menacing little beasties that could randomly pop out and chase down the point leader. “Why won’t you die?”
Let us go under. What if you could jump down an emergence hole you created by tossing a grenade onto a crack in the concrete. Then you might come up in one of any number of locations; simply by tossing a grenade ahead of you to blow open an overhead exit. What if a manhole cover could be lifted to gain access to the sewer and an exit accessed going topside from under another. “Supplies!”
Let us go through. The same hole could be blown through a cracked wall, for a temporary walk-thru hole that collapses after a short time. If the locations of said cracks changed randomly at each restart it could be unpredictable. What if there were hidden corridors. “How did you get here so quickly?” “Secret passages!” Multi-kick Kickable doors in several of the arenas, yeah! Blastable doors that can be blown down on the kicker, (from the other side) before they kick the second time. Kickable double doors that allow two men rushing at once! Kickable doors that only open 6 inches on the first kick, just enough to shoot through. “You wanna eat? Eat this!!” Maybe they only kick it once and toss in a grenade. “Special delivery!”
Let us go over! Glitchers have been killing themselves by the thousands to find new places to kung fu flip and force mount up on to walls buildings and any thing that gives them an overlook. This really sucks for all noobs who can’t and hardliners who simply will not. Then people get angry and others get booted or start their own little club. Is it really too much to ask for a ladder?! Give us vertical access! I can run up on and vault/climb a 10 foot wall and I am out of shape. Why can’t these rock hard cogs get over anything taller than a mailbox?
More dynamic cover please. That is; destructible, moveable and even mountable cover. Cover that we can push in front of a door to block an exit. Cover that we can push over to crush an enemy who crouches behind it. Cover that I can mount while it rolls cuz my teammate is pushin’ and I only have a few seconds more to shoot cuz it’s about to explode from all the bullets that are raining on it! “Yeah Baby!”
Deadly Fire! Growing fires that result from explosive weapons and explodable objects. OMG!, fire that comes from a hand held weapon like a flame thrower or an incendiary grenade. Insane animations of gamers running around, tripping, falling and rolling around in agony, On Fire! Warning: Running, tripping, falling, and or rolling On Fire, may result in serious injury or death!! ON FIRE!
If we can jump over stuff, why can’t we jump off ledges or over the side of bridges? Vertical access issues again.
If we can dive and roll, why can’t we just dive over short cover?
How about the ability to jump a gap.
It would be nice if we could lay prone and crawl or roll, so long as we could fire from the ground. Then we might get under cars and ledges for cover.
For as much as I have practiced roadie running, the cover still grabs me sometimes. It would be way faster to flank, rush in and fallback if there was a button on the controller we could use in combination with A to keep from taking cover when we roadie run through tight spaces.
Why do we have to glitch to fire while roadie running? Not cool.
If people like to run by and miss the mark while they run right into another player’s line of fire, just let them. A select few may develop enough skill to play at this speed effectively, but they can’t check their 6 or maneuver and roll like the rest of us. To each his or her own. “Yippee Cay Yaay Mutha’…
Don’t tell us how groundbreaking and awesome Gears 1 was and how many copies sold, expecting us to run out and buy GOW2. Instead show us how much meaner, sicker and better performing it will be, compared to Gears1. Yeah GOW is the greatest, but you don’t get to stay the best by resting on your laurels. Step up and bring your A-game. Just log on to live or go to you-tube and look at what the gamers are glitching to pull off. They want increased mobility and more handling/control options. Don’t just give us what we had, or just what we ask for. Give us more!

Blood in the water. Nice. Water for concealment in a few miltiplayer arenas would be a welcome addition. A scuba mask with a short supply af air or just the ability to hold your breath for a fair amount of time would do it. The Cogs and Locust are heavily armed and armored. With all that weight, I don’t see them swimming. They could just walk along the bottom and crouch down in shallow water. A cool drawback to crossing through water could be a trail of temporary wet foot prints. The same thing could be done with a blood trail that leads to an injured enemy on the run. Hey, a faint trail of bubbles could give you away, if you camp out underwater. Any serious advantage in concealing cover should expire in some way, after you’ve had time for a kill or two. Underwater mission? Deep down with the sickness! Well the cogs are kinda’ like a SEAL team. Throw in a fire mission using a Raven or an even bigger helicopter gunship and they would be fighting sea air and land battles. The lightmass bomb did go all U-571 through a huge underground river of immulsion. So, why not an underwater(under-immulsion)insertion, deep into the heart of enemy territory. What is that yellowish green sewage anyways? Maybe thats why the Locust are so angry. If a toilet upstairs overflowed and started running down into your bedroom, you might emerge from the stairwell with the same ugly look on your face. lol

I have a couple of things to add. First I think it would have been nice that we would’ve been able to play with and against AI on local versus and have different Difficulty levels like in the game for it.
Now with the GOW2 coming out I think it would be nice if you could have some guns where you can have double weapons, More guns of course but also for versus to defend against a shotgun blast from up close, instead of a guarenteed death, better if you can put up a fight. Other then that I hope they dont change the characters and go over board with everything, thats how most games get ruined.
As for this whole thing with them charging in order to get multiplayer maps to play with, I feel if you already paid for the game the maps should have been included and be free because we did pay $60.00 for the game its like pretending to give us the full game and be like oops I only gave you 60% of it now pay for the rest of the game you thought you bought. In case microsoft forgot we pay either $7.95 amonth or $50 a year, $60 for GOW, and now we have to pay for more stuff for a game we already bought.
I am and was a big playstation fan until I saw Gears of War this is what made me come to XBOX but now Im starting to think it wasn’t such a good idea, altogether I thought I was getting a better deal and at the sam time GOW. Overall I ended up paying a whole lot more for the same stuff PS3 already came with.
But I will remain a big Xbox fan thanks to GOW and the many other good games that are out, the games made the system.

This games is by far the best i have ever played. Why is everyone bitching about what they need to change? Shotty killing you up close wow, sorry its to realistic for you and you die, try not letting them get close to you. Story lined rocked and i can’t wait to play a sequel. Keep up the good work, and seriously to all of you, who are going to bad mouth this game or want to change it at least learn to write correctly when insulting something.

I think for gears of war 2 thier should be a 4 player local game were you and 3 friends can all play together slpit screen. You should also be able to drive cars , helicopters tanks etcetera with turets and stuff on it so u can drive and your friend shoots.and you can also run over people and stuff. THAT WOULD BE SICK!!!!

in gears of war, after you kill someone, the body just fades away after about 30 secs, I mean come on these are next gen- games. it would be way more reallistic if in gears of war 2 they just stayyed in there puddle of blood.FOREVER. even when you leave and come back like 10 mins later. overall gears of war is a sick game. its my favorite game for any console and I cant wait for gears of war 2. good job cliff b.and everyone at epic.

Gears was a good game and id buy the sequel but cliffy needs to admit he didnt invent the cover system. Kill.Switch was the first to bring a third person shooter into things with a full blown cover system. And as far as gears ever being better then halo it would have to advance leaps and bounds in its next game to earn it. as far as the 360 vs. ps3 arguement. ps3 is better just like the xbox was in the last race, but what matters is content and right nwo the 360 has the field dominated as far as that goes. the ps3 will need another year before it has enough solid games to compete with the 360.

Yes there are lots of things i expect from gears of war 2 but th major thing is 4v4 gameplay is just to small… we need bigger maps and like an 8v8 maximum and i would also like to keep the classic maps in there too (war machine clocktower gridlock etc) and new weapons would also be sick but as far as that goes just remember this i dont like it wither but…

yes they definitely need to get rid of HOST abilities, its just ridiculous that a weak player that host becomes more powerful not do to any skill or especially a strong opponent who has high skill level is now even stronger just because their HOST?! ccome on give me a break all fighters should have equal weapon and damage results leaving the win strictly to skill..

Gears of War is the best game at the moment, end of story, but yes, longer campaigns will be nice, a couple female fighters will be cool, and the last locust at the end was much too easy to kill, but as for new weapons, Gears of War needs to add a knife, some brass knuckles, and there needs to be some kind of hand on hand fighting, like punches, kicks, and last of all, head bunts that split skulls. some more advanced grenades would be cool too, keep up the good work epic, microsoft, and cliffy b, Gears of war 2 will deffinitely be my first purchase when it hits the dock.

gow 2 should have bots in multi player cuz it was borin in multi player before i got myself xbox live but it should have bots/ computer players , they should have a course where your like outside and one side of the course as 4 or 5 turrent and the other side as like rocket luancher snipers and stuff better explanation would be like d-day in ww2. BUT the object is u have a limit amount of live and if the team with the turrent die the other wins but there to way for the other team to win one is to get the flag in side the base but u don’t have to go anywhere with it u just grab it and the secound to to eliminate your opponents lol.
They should have diffrent guns like a flamethrower and u should be able to drive more vichels in multi player and campain like a jeep , tank , helicopter and the junker woud be pretty cool to drive again but its upgraded with 2 turrents on the side. add me on msn roch-92@hotmail.com

Multiplayer does need some work i agree with some new weapons but GOW type guns this isn’t halo, halo sucks, multiplayer is too glichy and need bigger maps with more people 8v8 or 10v10 would be insane! i think that there should be double weapons but there’s like a penalty for havin the e.g 2 shotguns double the damage double the reload also there sould be more executions i mean curb stomping is cool but loses it’s shock value after a while and just starts to get old and the chain saw should hav mor attaks like a stab or quick slice that won’t kill em but will do a lot of damage or bring them to there knees or a slice where u acually control the chainsaw like use melee and press up and u’ll slice straight up the body and there guts fall out!!!!!

I believe the “host” shotgun/lancer ect. is inevitable because it is not some “special ability” it is merely an incredibly better connection than everybody else.
I do want more of jumping over barriers (like rolling over when you jump), dual wield, prone position, climbing and generally better weapons.
p.s. They should make an uncontrollable add-on to where when you or someone else hosts their everything is decreased in strength to make it even (or to make the players stronger).
