Sony has been trying to label its PlayStation 2 console in Europe as a “computer”, because import duty on computers is far lower than on videogame consoles. A UK judge has now ruled that it is indeed a videogame console, and not a computer. This means that the already high priced PlayStation 3 console might cost even more in the United Kingdom (and the rest of Europe as well). That’s why Sony has been very active in promoting the PS3 as a computer, not a videogame console.
