Wii To Get Episodic Content

Speaking to Game Informer, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime said that Wii Connect 24 would be able to deliver new content to players.
“(…) You’ve gotten to a particular part in a game, we could push content out to you, so you get to battle a new boss. Maybe you get a new artifact; Maybe you get a new weapon…“
Could this be the next big Wii secret? Downloadable content for games like Zelda: Twilight Princess. Imagine getting a new weapon, or even small expansion pack with a single dungeon.

Hells yeah! I’m loving the Wii more and more every day. I cannot wait for release. This is the first next Gen console I’m buying hands down… probably the only as well since I’m currently a poor college student. Ha Ha! We can only afford the cheapest of the bunch, and even then we probably have to go without food for two months to be able to afford that. Hooray for the ever soaring price of tuition(sarcasm)!

Hurray for Nintendo
The ONLY company with foresight
I have an X360 and PC etc… the X360 has been a dissappointment overall but I will hang onto it to see how it progresses games wise
but the Wii is a definite to be bought from the moment it hits the shops, yet again Nintendo is going to take gaming to new heights, episodic content.. GENIUS!
Everything about this new console bodes well for it and the others are going to have to play catch up yet again.
Some ppl dismissed the gamecube out of hand and yet I still have one and play it more regularly than I have played any of my other machines, knowing that I will be able to play these games on the Wii just adds another level to the Wii machine.
Props to Nintendo, a truly inspired company

Episodic Content is not for me. Sometimes a sequel to a hit game is released a year later and it turns out to be a big dissapointment. There is no graphical or any other technical leap when these sequels are so close from release. Episodic Content will be even worse, it’s also an excuse not to give you a full 2o hour gameplay game, giving the game to you in 3 episode is taken the piss. When it happens with movies and it rarely does, the 2nd and 3rd episode are years apart. The game however will not, they’ll be months apart and not be worth the purchase. I think more people would buy a full game rarther than buy the 1st episode and buy the other episodes.
My mate will also be pissed as he’s geting a Wii on launch and he doesn’t have an internet connection and unlikely to get one as he can’t afford another monthly bill.

Hmmmm….. Looks….
Like a money sucker to me.
$1 for a spiffy new sword.
$5 for a new dungeon. it all adds ups.
Still Wii is waaaay to cool not to buy. and I’m assuming that this is NOT MEANT TO REPLACE FULL GAMES. but to give those players who want more the ability to get more.
of course i must say:
wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

i just want to say that this is nothing new … playstation 3 has been said to offer these kinds of options since e3 … nothing revolutionary all nintendo is doing is keeping up with the times … by the way i’m still gonna buy a nintendo since it still is an amazing console in its own way

I was hoping the Wii would save me from the evil content that is destroying the 360 but it looks like gaming is coming to an end.
games are too short and too expensive already and this just magnifies it.
I’d love to pay for extra content at a decent price IF I got a future proof hardcopy but this paying for data will kill the retro scene in 10 years time. Dig that old dusty 360/wii/ps3 out the cupboard and you’ll only have half finished games to play on it, and no where to get hold of the content.
The death knoll for consoles, back to the PC for me… if I can afford the upgrades

You already have that on xbox 360 so whats new?
you got new cars for pgr3
new dungeon for kameo
new places for oblivion
so whats so great about that news?

I’m glad Nintendo decided to make an online distributor service. Although, I hope it’s better than Steam, which in it’s first days was notoriously bad. I am 98% a PC gamer, 1% GameCube and 1% Nintendo 64. I always favored PC games because if they had a mess up in the game, they could easily make a patch and distribute it. Before I heard about the Wii Connect 24, I didn’t favor console games because I always thought that there was a smaller selection and sometimes I felt like I was paying for a system with limited content. But not anymore, I want a Wii. Hopefully the Wii will bring Nintendo back to #1 in the console wars, like it used to be back in the 80’s. Also, I am really looking forward to being able to buy NES, SNES, Turbografix, N64, and Sega Genesis games and have them installed right onto my memory card.

I think the point they’re trying to make here is that the WiiConnect-24 will constantly add in little bonuses. So, you wake up and there’s a new weapon around you can use to take care of that boss you couldn’t get yesterday.
