Sony Japan has trademarked the new PlayStation 3 controller as “P oo S”. If it doesn’t make sense, imagine the “oo” as representation of the dual analog sticks. This is still a Japan-only thing. It’s the same concept as Wii, where “ii” are two Wiimotes/players. So now we have Wii, PooS, and hopefully Microsoft will jump on the wagon with “X33″.

3I would say P(lay)S(tation) Infinity sounds rather nice.
BTW What is the source of this news? ’cause it sounds like FUD to me. People love to hate Sony these days…

4Wouldn’t mind knowing the source of this piece either cos it sounds a bit far fetched. As a blog you should really cite your sources or provide a link to the article you found the information on otherwise what are we supposed to believe?

5I feel the new name sounds vulgar. PooS sounds too dangerously close to P*ssy..

The forum post above explains that “P oo S”, or “P∞S” is simply incorrect. And if you were to check out the English IPDL page below and do a search for application number “2006-40965″, you will notice that the Trademark(for retrieval) is simply “PS”. That’s how it’s supposed to be read.

8giko: The article actually doesn’t mention how its pronounced, just that the “oo” represent the analog sticks

The trademark is just “PS”, not “P oo S” or “P∞S”. There is no “oo” in the middle.

10Giko:
The ∞ can be interpreted as oo, either way, both things symbolize the dual analog sticks
