The NPD Group has released the sales figures for the month of June, and surprisingly, the 5 year old PlayStation 2 console has outsold the Xbox360. The PS2 sold a massive 311,000 units, while the Xbox360 managed to sell 277,000 units. If this is the rate the Xbox360 is selling, there is no chance Microsoft will reach 10 million consoles sold before the PS3 launch, as they predicted at E3.
On the handheld side, The DS Lite sold over 593,000 units. Portable console sales were up 25% compared to last year, mostly because of the introduction of DS Lite.
