Halo 3 Storyline Leaked?
A supposedly leaked Halo 3 storyline from Bungie has surfaced and can be downloaded here (.doc format). The file contains three documents, detailing 8 levels of Halo 3, including storyline and dialogue. From the prologue:
Upon returning from deep space, after destroying the weapon known as Halo during a conflict with the Convenant, you, the Master Chief and your trusty AI guidance system Cortana, find yourself in front row seats to the end of Earth. Covenant Armada Battleships attack at the Earth mercilessly in hopes of destroying your very world. Seeing the imminent danger, you jump into action. Literally.
There is a possibility of the document being completely bogus, but the file info shows that it was created September 14, 2005 by “citistreet”.

anyone else realise that at the end of halo 2 the MC and Cortana are not together and they have not destroyed the 2nd halo so the whole thing is bullsh*t at best it may be an original draft? but even then bungie wouldnt make that kind of a mistake with there own story.

I read the thing, and it’s *completely* bogus.
Whoever wrote this used the original Halo 2 Announcement Trailer and the gameplay-demo video, and then just went insane. They’ve apparently played through Halo 2, but didn’t take in everything from the cutscenes; and it looks like they’ve never read the books, either, ’cause we know for a fact that there are only seven Rings.
And that’s just a few of the holes in this ****.

This is complete bull. There is no way it is true. For one, the structure you see in th E3 video for halo 3, new monbasa is in the background. You can see the bridge as the scene opens. The sahara dasert thing is bull. If you watch the making of that video, the creators comment that you dont know what is about to happen bacause for teh first time, the master chief is separated from cortana. THis is confirmed by the end of halo 2. Another thing, the release date. I think some punk played halo 2 and wrote down there interpretation of halo 3. Look at the release date of feb 9. 2006. The game clearly did not come out then. And did anyone els notice the plot gaps. The covenant has split. There was no arbitor Miranda Keyes, or johnson. And to top it off, the created plot doesnt make sense and has no closure on actual origin of the Forerunners or the war with the covenant. To top it all off, htere are only seven halos as confirmed by halo one. What are the ods with hundreds of halos that the master chief raninto instalation 4 and then 5. Plus, the covanant had just found there first halo in instalation 04 and i quote were “fortunate to find 5.
Whoever wrote this bull needs to actually pay attention to the previous halo games.

I agree w/ the majority of you guys, this is bull. It’s almost inevidable that the covenant Rebels are gonna be allied with the Humans (It’ll Probaly be the Elite, Grunts and Hunters, cause the elites were the one who rebelled and the grunts and Hunters are more loyal to the Elites cause the elites trainded them) So, Halo three will probaly be The Good Aliens, Humans vs The Prophets. It’s gonna be bad-*ss! I hope Bunggie doesn’t do anything stupid with the plot. It probaly will follow the books, except for a few small details. That means we will get to play the other Spartan 2’s and maybe even the Spartan 3’s. Cool sh*t man!

Dude this is complete bull! Some Halo nerd just looked over the story line completely disregarding the books and posting their fantasy of Halo 3. We know for a fact that there are only 7 rings, and that just starts the flaw in this ****.

It was actually the original plans for halo 2, when the game grew too long they split it in half and changed a TON of stuff, that is why halo 2 got delayed so long.

Oh stop with all the meaningless speculation please. Let’s just wait and hope to be surprised as hell. Also I disagree with you Jim about Halo 2 having no story … while I am not the biggest fan of having to play half the game as the arbiter I thought the story was very interesting and very well thought out and to me there is no way you can blow this in just 5 hours on Heroic. Even on the normal setting 5 hours is a bit of a stretch. I say maybe 8-10 on normal and 10-13 on Heroic if you play it solitary. But then again you may just be that damn good at the game.

There are 7 halos, counting the destroyed one. The books are just books. The Flood sorta followed the storyline but not really, and onyx is during Halo 2 I think.

Ok, first, im gonna ignore Massa Chief’s comment because he obviously has not played the game. Secondly, Jim probably is one of those kids who skip through the cut scenes . Also, the books for the most part do tie in with the Halo Story. Maybe not directly, but they do. Theres no way that Bungie would let Eric publish stories just for fun. Not to mention he has seen the bible.
Another thing is that as far as we know, all the Spartan III’s and Spartan II’s, besides John, are trapped inside Onyx (or whereever they are) so we won’t be able to play with them.
Also, Omyx takes place before Halo:CE and during Halo 2. Maybe a little of Halo 3
And this script just wasted 10 mins of my life.

Did anyone relise that this is basicly the plot from the beiging of halo 2 (from what i read at the top of the page)where he jumps out of the station and bring the covent there bomb back. also thats was right after they destroyed the first halo i mean this is jsut the halo 2 plot.

the main thing that shows this as a fake is that its way to short. i have the halo 2 special edition and they showd the stack of papers for the cinimatics for halo 2. it was like 1 1/2 inches thick. unless halo 3 is realy short thers no way the storline could be this small

whoever says that the story line dosent fit…your wrong at the end of the first book(the fall of reach)mc,cortana and keys slipspace from reach as it is being attacked by the covanant and they end up finding halo(instalation 04).
at the end of halo :combat evolved mc and cortana are the last ones left…..or so they think. they(mc and cortana )find a cryo pod woundering through space.the pod contains SRG Jhonson(the black dude).apparently he wasnt infected by the flood becase of a desise he had before he joined the army.Anyway,mc,cortana and sgt johnson find a pelican full of marines woundering through space.they meet up and talk about how they are going to get back to Earth.after talking a covanant flagship and some spheraph fighters come to serch the derbre of halo.any way the mariens and mc capture the flag ship and set a corse for the reble base that the young spartans went on thier first mission.they talk to the rebel leader and make a truse.any way the covanant find the base and the mc and the others run away in the flagship or somthin like that…mean while back at reach fred and kelly and some other spartans find dr hasly and try to escape throught the ONI tunnels below reach.fred finds a covanant crystal that controls somthing arather about slipispace. the mc decides that they should go back to rach to see if there were any survivors still alive.they find fred dr h and some other spartans and a UNSC ship that is still functional.they find out that the covanant have found earth and are rallying troops and a massive fleet of 500 or so covanant ships.the mc finds the commandingship that if destroyed the fleet would be useless.so the spartans get redy for the assault.long story short the dystroy it and come back to earth(this al takes place in book 3 first strike)….but the mystery is that fred,will and linda were still alive when they returned to earth….so why wernt they in halo 2….

Mike, what you said is kinda wrong at the end. I don’t think they were ‘fortunate to find’ the 05 installation. Because after all, they slipspace jumped there.
And Mark, the books are more than stories, the Bungie writers have had many insights into the creation of the books. And the games don’t follow the books, the books follow the game. Or unseen parts of it.

I agree with Spartan_117_3000 and his story, but at the end, Will, Fred, and Linda were killed in the Malta and Athens cuz it blew up when they were on it… [:( sad]but anyways, the story is crap and whoever wrote it is sum halo wanna-be that obviously has only played Halo 2 once or just is too stupid to understand the story. anyways, i think Bungie wouldnt be that stupid to forget their own plot. thanks-

If u really want to get a deeper understanding of it, yes. Cus that way you can learn about Onyx and the other spartan groups that are still ALIVE. Thats why i am convinced that there will be more Spartans in Halo 3 fighting alongside the Master Chief. If u pay attention to the books and the games, i promise u yall will come to the same conclusion. This script is bull and so is (5.) Massa Chief’s opinion of the books (but no its not REQUIERED to read them anthony6619).

I have not read the books yet, but im hoping that doesnt ruin the storyline for me. I havent read them, because i want to learn about it by living through it in the games.
If this is going to blow it for me then I guess im screwed. Hope Halo 3 is a blast anyways

this new storyline is bullsh*t. obviously its totally wrong. cortana is seperated from the masterchief at the end of halo2. she remains on high charity or the covenant ship(cant remember which) and gets left behind. The master chief stows away on the covenant ship and comes back to earth eventually. and the hundreds of halos is wrong too cuz there are only SEVEN. people need to pay attention to the cutscenes and videoclips from the BOTH games. if youve only played halo 2 then you need to play the first one because it really helps you understand halo 2. if youve only played halo1 then play halo 2. you wont understand anything in halo3 when you buy it if you havnt played halo2.

At best, this “storyline” is a VERY, VERY, VERY, old version, ’cause it does not fit AT ALL with Halo 2’s ending.

I dont give a shit whether you guys “know” what the halo 3 storyline is gonna be like.
I am just gonna wait for someone that HAS played all of the halo 3 campaign mode, and took note of it (WITHOUT TAKING THE BLURB OFF OF THE BACK!) I am working on a halo story that will just be based around the campaign missions (maybe 1 chapter per level) i want one of you 33 people… in fact ALL of you to play the halo 3 campaign completely by Nov, but POST as soon as you are FINISHED. I’m still working on a minor title, like “forerunners, or “legacy of the spartans”, or even “legend of 117″

incase you guys didn’t play halo 2 new mombasa is a desert because of the covenent ship going into slipspace, and when a ship goes into slip space INSIDE an atmosphere there is a huge explosion. and In amber clad “stumbled upon” instalation 05 because they shared the slipspace tunnel with the profits ship AND the books and games are supposed to be interlinked they may not seem like the are but it all happens at differnt times

i think that halo 3 was a great game,and i think that it could have some re improvement put into the game.i beat really easy lenguadary or what ever.i hope there is a nother comeing soon.i think that there should be alot more places to play in,sadly halo 2 had alot more things to do on live.maybe if there i a halo 4 comeing out then i think u should try to make something happen to make it alot harder and more funner
the last mission was the hardest and i think is was really short!!also maybe you should make all the levels like the last 1 i think halo 3 is really great but lots could be inproves

I haven’t read all of the comments here. But if you guys had any brains you’d realise that this was the first levels of Halo 2. “Jumping into action” bieng when he decides to do a home delivery to a covenant ship with a bomb.

This to me actually came out well. I think that it was the original idea for Halo 3 but was changed by Bungie
If you noticed in the documentaries on the Bonus DVD (Limited Edition or Legendary Edition) It was said Staten said Marty did most of the work of the story because he felt there was no emotion to it (which seems pretty true) So they probably re wrote from this story.
Also in the Bonus DVD, if you look at the artwork, you can see one of the paintings involving Earth forming into something…maybe Earth was intended to be the Ark in the first place?
I would actually like to play Halo 3 with this story, it seems WAY longer, but the ending to this story seemed pretty bad and leads to another cliffhanger (just as bad as the Halo 2 ending) -.-’ Which defeats the purpose of finishing the fight.
But all in all, I would prefer this story because….
-Forerunners
-Extreme details explaining Halo and pretty much everything else.
-Tells right after Halo 2 (Halo3’s beginning pretty much confuses me from where they left off) but, will be told on a comic…I wish it was told by a book rather.
-A fight with the Gravemind! (Way better than a Monitor boss fight >.<) In Halo 3, I felt them not fighting or even showing Gravemind was disappointing.
Plus if they went with this story with Halo 3 together…this would have been a Kick-ass game with a MUCH longer story which I like
So only con? Pretty much this ending sucked and should have done something like the real Halo 3 ending or something
