Want To Pre-Order PS3? £150 In Deposit, Please.

ps3 sideSony is talking to retailers about a pre-order plan on the PS3, where they demand £150 ($270) in deposit, should you wish to preorder the console.

The reason Sony wants to introduce this system is to make sure that the PS3 consoles are distributed to stores where the demand is high. Sony is doing this for two reasons; the first one (the obvious one) being that they wish to avoid the same shortage problems Microsoft had when they launched the Xbox360. Because of the shortage, Xbox360 consoles were selling on eBay for over $1,000.

The second reason could be that they don’t have enough consoles to everyone. But that’s highly unlikely, since it’s already in production, looking to meet the 2 million demand at launch.
