You can play crysis on a mac. it will just cost you 1700 $ USD. Or perhaps your older mac just needs a processor upgrade.

my new MacBook Pro will definitely be able to play this better than any standard PC. it plays other games way better than my PC's. I am working on one of my own im custom building at home. i will probly have to say its going to be hard to beat my MBP but it might.

Now does everyone here remember when I boasted in here that Crysis would be running on the PS3 on OpenGL? Well this fall you'll see it come true! Not on low or medium settings either. Cry Engine was first ported to PS3 over two years ago now. It is being ported to Xbox 360 and the engine will run on higher settings on both. Nice being right at least once in awhile! ;)

As far as OpenGL 3.0/3.2? It's being integrated with Mt Evans (DX10 features)right now. But the real news is in this very old link for PS3 fans:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20050316/ps3.htm

Page 20 to 30 (of PDF) has information for PS3 as high end OGL ES 2.0 device and PowerVR SGX Mobile GPU using it in future Cell phones with DX10 Shader Model 4.0 features running this on this API exclusively (same as PS3) PDF- below:
http://www.artist-embedded.org/docs/Events/2007/China_School/Presentations/Benini2_MPSoC-HW.pdf

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Unified-Shaders-in-PowerVR-SGX-37620.shtml

Both OpenGL ES 2.0 and DX10 are Locked to Next Gen Streaming Unified Shader Pipeline hardware (not backwards compatible with OpenGL ES 1.1 Fixed Function Shader Pipeline of G70!!! (OpenGL 2.0 (full) though for PC's runs on both Graphics Pipelines!)

Yes it's in Japanese (but you can read the pictures, hehe) and is from Sony's GDC 2005 where they revealed the new OpenGL ES (embedded systems) Road Map. That road map included breaking up OpenGL (full) into two API Driver Sets. One for then present hardware (PSP, Cell Phones, N-Gage,etc) that ran on "Fixed Function" Shader Pipelines (like those in G70 and older PC Hardware). The other one was streamlined and cut down to run on "Future" DX10 compatible hardware. On a Fully Programmable (Unified) Shader Pipeline without backwards compatibility to OGL ES 1.1. The reason they were announcing OpenGL ES 2.0 at the Sony PS3 GDC meeting was because it's RSX would be running on OpenGL ES 2.0 (when final), which is naturally the only Embedded System version that could run on a Unified Shader GPU. That's also having Mt Evans (DX10) features integrated into it as well as OpenGL 3.1 (full).

So since a G70 has a Fixed Function Graphics Pipeline, it could only run on OpenGL ES 1.1 and since PS3 was OpenGL ES 2.0 Compliant way before the Final OpenGL ES 2.0 release March 2007, RSX (REALITY SYNTHESIZER XTREME) IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A G70. What is it? I'll just let the numbers smack you all in the face when they are released. When??? .......well some Studios are just now putting up Farms of Sony's Cell/RSX Computer Boards in order to process the 4K Resolution Movies coming out soon for Theaters with Sony's 4K Projectors in your neighborhood. ..........So what YOU think they'd put a G70 at less than a 100 GFLOPS as the RSX Co-Processor to Cells well over 200+ GFLOPS? ....Why not just put in another (cheaper than RSX) Cell if you want it for GPGPU or 4K movie processing and number crunching. You!!!.... people might believe Sony is stupid enough to put a supposed weak G70 Floating Point chip in a Computer Board (that would not be running a Display Screen) is smart. But for Me? Nobody's that stupid to ask (or pay) 7k dollars for a G70 and one Cell that couldn't on your LIFE process 4K movie production!

Since RSX is actually much more closely related to G80's Multi-way Programmable Parallel FLOATING POINT Shader Pipeline. Remember even Microsoft confirmed the Floating Point power of PS3 was much higher than Xbox 360. Otherwise why would Sony be offering a computer board (Cell/RSX) for 7000$ for less GFLOPS Total than an 8800 GPU by itself? ...what? .....for it's Good Looks or Power? With over 2TFLOPS (which is still true), those Sony Computer Boards (Cell/RSX) will OWN GPGPU /CPU combination power. PS3? ....will PWN this Generation running Crysis, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and MGS4 games alone this year! Oh and OpenGL ES 2.0? will own your future Cell Phone with DX10 quality games even! ;) ...your Cell Phone will be playing Crysis better than your PC with OpenKode!!!

I haven't actually tried the game myself yet, however, from word of mouth (and countles forums such as this one) that it is a hardware killer.. Would i be able to run it on the following specs, and furthermore, what kind of performance would i be able to expect?`

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 (Overclocked to 3,4 Ghz)
2Gb DDR2 800Mhz
2x Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS (Overclocked to 587/800 Mhz)(SLI)
