No Gears Of War Demo

A few days ago Epic Games’ Mark Rein announced the Gears of War release date, yesterday he posted a message on the official Epic Games Forum that a demo of the game is unlikely to appear.
“I don’t see any way we could do a demo before the game comes out. We’ve said that before. Demos take a long time to create and polish and we can’t afford to get derailed like that if we want to have the game in stores by Thanksgiving.”
In one of the follow up comments, he mentioned their plans of releasing additional content via Xbox Live Marketplace,
“No idea if we’ll do a demo or not after the game ships. I know we have some very cool plans (not 100% solid so too early to give any specifics) for additional downloadable so that might take a higher priority than creating a demo.”
I’m not really surprised that GoW will feature downloadable content - a lot of Xbox360 titles have some sort of downloadable content available. However, I am a bit surprised that they have no plans for the demo, since it’s a good way to persuade gamers to buy the retail version. Or perhaps Gears of War has had so much publicity lately, that there is no need for a demo.
