The Xbox360 version of WWII shooter Call of Duty 2 is one of the top played games on Xbox Live, and developer Infinity Ward has released new map packs to satisfy the crowd. The new content has brought in almost $1 million to the developer (and publisher Activision), with over 500,000 map packs downloaded in Q2 2006 alone.
There are two popular map packs, the $5 Skirmish Map Pac and the $10 Invasion Map pack, generating $360,000 and $500,000, respectively. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has announced that they will look into “further capitalize on the success of the franchise and its online capabilities.” Which means more map packs.
