2006 edition of Tokyo Game Show will have an increased amount of “booth units” and companies exhibiting, compared to last year’s event. In all, 142 companies will be attending, displaying their latest games and gadgets in 1,710 booths. Last year the number of companies present was 131, using “only” 1,433 booths.
The increased size is due to next-gen consoles being showcased from Sony and Nintendo. CESA, the organization behind the event, expects “many highly-anticipated next generation titles” to be revealed at the show, which is taking place late September.
Keynote speakers include Sony’s Ken Kutaragi, and Square Enix president Yoichi Wada. At last year’s TGS, Nintendo finally unveiled the Wii controller during a keynote session with Satoru Iwata.

2No, but 3rd party developers will be showcasing tons of Wii titles, thus the need for more booths.
