Nintendo has announced the Opera based DS browser will be available across Europe October 6, 2006. The UK retail price is estimated at £30 (over $50), which includes a special memory unit, in order to handle large sites. The memory unit slots into the GBA socket. There are two versions of the browser, one for the DS and a smaller version for the DS Lite.
The DS browser will include the most basic browsing functions, such as bookmarking, history lists, and an on-screen keyboard to use with the stylus. You also have the choice to use Nintendo’s handwriting recognition system.
The Japanese version was launched on July 24, and is quite popular among DS owners, despite the high pricetag.
