How do you get people to buy your new “07″ branded sports games? You simply stop supporting the “06″ ones. In all, they are shutting down 29 online game servers from August to October. Most of them are EA Sports titles, and alongside the servers, community programs will be shutting down as well. Seems if you want to play your EA Sports title online, you better get the newest retail version, every year. At the end of the press release, they politely state:
All of us at EA would like to thank you for your valued participation in our online gaming community and hope that your enthusiasm for these games extends to our current lineup and beyond.
