[...] Digital Battle is reporting that Ubisoft has invested a lucky ~13 BIG ONES on Red Steel, a game that was once thought to be the second coming of first person shooter/sworders(?)… that is, until we all showed up at E3 and couldn’t stand it. If I’ve done my 20X Calculations properly, that’s roughly 260,000 copies sold at $50/pop before they’ll break even. Granted, I suppose that having a finished game on the platform and reusable Wiimote code will allow them to (con)vince us into buying a few similar games and profit in the longrun. It remains unseen if the game will be a commercial success, but with Brain Age selling millions of copies, anything can happen. Unless they’ve improved the mechanics, their best bet is to get it on the shelves at launch day so that we buy it out of new console / empty nest desperation. [...]
