PSM Editor Chooses Xbox360 Over PS3
August 12th, 2006 Posted in News
The editor of the official PlayStation Magazine, Dana Jongewaard, writes in her blog that she is getting an Xbox360 instead of the PS3 this fall. Her reason? The high price, of course. The $600 price tag doesn’t justify what you get, because like her, most people actually don’t care about the Blu-ray drive, which is a big part of the high cost.
The console has no huge and exclusivetitles either, only Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII, which will be released sometime in 2007. Two games aren’t enough to invest in the PS3, at least not this year.

Alot of people arent getting the system beacuase of the price thats kinda good news since that means alot less shortages and people arent going to make money lazy just re-selling the system like what happend to the xbox 360 this past holidays.
PS3+holidays=sold out. its a no brainer the system will sell no matter what price it goes for ,theres people in the world who do have the money to buy what ever they want like i know people who have like 4 ipods.Sony’s target this holidays is that people.
I may buy it for Resistance-F.O.M. and Sonic.
i call that girl at OPM just a tool of the internet just repeats what she reads on blogs and cant even think for her self.
anybody with an open mind would know theres alot more then just MGS4 AND FF13 for PS3.

firstly that “girl” is the editor of PSM, and secondly i can understand why she would want to opt for an xbox 360 rather than a ps3, who noes the ps3 might have the same problems the xbox 360 had with over heating, but i supose thats the risk you take if you want to be the first to own one. also with great games like gears of war, test drive unlimited and mass effect coming out soon, sony will have to do more than just their usual sequals.

Not exactly a newsworthy story, but I have to disagree with the previous commenter about Ms. Jogewaard’s decision. Had she not thought for herself, wouldn’t she have blindly chosen the PS3? She does work for the official magazine, after all. She knows that there’s more than MGS4 and FF XIII.
I won’t argue that the PS3 will be sold out this holiday, but I can’t help but think that after the initial sell-out that sales will start to drop off like the 360’s sales are doing now. I may be totally wrong, but I predict that PS2 will outsell PS3 in 2007.

I predict that Sony won’t even be a contender in the next generation console war! Their PR people seem to be really pushing this ‘blue ray’ thing. What gamer do you know actually gives a dang about blue ray?? Show me the games!! And i don’t mean the list of cancelled ones either. I mean some games that’ll make me forget that i’m about to pawn my left arm already! $600?? Meanwhile, the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 are going to be selling for almost half that price? Look at that. Even Play Station Mag’s editor has no intentions on purchasisng the PS3(hint, hint). I think somewhere Sony just lost focus on gaming.

i think the nintendo wii and the xbox 360 don`t even stand a chance against the ps3.
August 22nd, 2006 at 3:43 pm

PS3 will not overheat like the xbox 360.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:09 pm
and how do you know this, Shaka?
August 24th, 2006 at 4:01 am
Ps3 doesnt use fans to kool off the system they use a new technology. and the PS3 doesnt seem like its going to be rushed like the xbox 360 was.
August 26th, 2006 at 9:15 pm
And what “new technology” is this? Magical ice leprechauns? Of course the dang thing will use fans. Unless they plan to use freon or liquid nitrogen they have no other choice.

New technology called cooling pipes something ,really cool stuff ,you maybe familiar with it if your into the Pc gaming world ,they use that to tweak PC’s.
thanks god. no more fans they are so noisy.
and had a friend who had to buy an extra intercooler (plus 60$) just to play the damn xbox 360 beacuase the system overheats so much ,just shows how microsoft is so scared of PS and wanted to rushed the system just to get ahead but they totally fail.

Shaka, I have to argue with the 360 overheating so much. I’ve had my 360 since they came out and haven’t had a single problem with it yet. I play my 360 pretty much 24/7 with the exception of school, but I’m always playing it and it hasn’t frozen up yet. So what’s your response to that?
September 8th, 2006 at 3:03 am
I heard there is about 2% of xbox 360’s who actually will play without an extra intercooler(+60$) but you gotta keep it in a very cold place which can easily be your case.
