New Xbox360 Controller On The Way?

At yesterday’s Gamefest event in Seattle, Microsoft’s product unit manager, Robert S. Walker suggested that they might be creating an advanced version of the Xbox360 controller. The plan is to make the controller a second choice for gamers, instead of replacing the original one.
The new controller would have an improved and more precise right analog stick for games requiring higher precision, like first person shooters. The current 360 controller does a decent job in FPS games, although improving controls for console shooters is always welcome.

Nice. I’ve never been a big fan of the Xbox controller for shooters, specifically the stiffness and lack of range of the analog sticks. The PS3’s Dualshock 3 has always been better in this regard. If they can improve on the precision, smoothness, and range of motion of the sticks for shooters, then that’ll be a dream come true for me.

Love the 360 controller but agree with tony, more range,more response please. and fix the bloody d-pad that would be great…oh and a shut the hell up kids button.

PS3 controller is better than 360 controller? rofl… the layout of the analog stick is crap… the only good thing about the PS3 controller is that it has a better dpad than the 360 (they fixed the dpad problem on the green 360 controllers)

So micro$oft have found another way of getting a few more bucks from FPS fans with a controller with a slightly better right stick… What’s next? A controller with a slightly better left stick for beat em up fans? The PS3 may suck but the xbox does a great job of inventing needlessly re-hashed peripherals to suck cash from your wallet!!
Personally I think the current controller is a good all rounder with a neat and intuitive layout….. I wouldn’t buy one for just playing FPS’s just like I wouldn’t buy a different pair of keks with easy off action for days with a dose of the runs??

Eh, either way the 360 controller will still be the inferior of the two..the DS3 just feels official and is clearly more well made.

PS3 controller is better, but obviously the 360 is not the worst in history, don’t be stupid. If they make analog sticks to be as good as the DS3s then my opinion would change

Youre telling me that a controller design from nearly 8 years ago is better than the 360….haha….The Ps3 controller has its +s but if you like a stick configuration so close together your thumbs run into eachother….than go with the worser controller….PS3. Its awful for any FPS

Well i always new microsdoft were idiots so not surprised but still dissapointed! Wares the controller with the right hand joystick replaced by track ball ? this is the only way pathetic consoles can come close to the only true gaming experience the PC which can do ANYTHING a console can do And much much more pathetic attempt my penisoft.
