EA Buys German Developer Phenomic
EA is known for a lot of things, one of them being their ability to continuously buy up small and interesting developers. This time it’s German Phenomic, the team behind The Settlers series, and SpellForce 1&2 (read our review here). The new company will be called EA Phenomic, and will still be based in Germany. Paul Lee, president of EA Worldwide Studios says:
“The team at Phenomic is an outstanding group of developers. Their track record for building quality RTS games and creating original IP is impressive, and we share a strong common vision for the future of the strategy gaming market.”
Phenomic boss Boris Kunkel said about the deal:
“We’ve always been passionate about creating games with a focus on quality, innovation and fun, and EA has the same philosophy for game making. Being part of EA will help us turn our vision for future games into reality.”
EA has declined to mention how much they paid for Phenomic.
