Top 10 Most Anticipated PS3 Games
August 23rd, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Action, Driving, MMO, Multiplayer, Online, PlayStation 3, RPG, Simulation, Sports, StrategyOur top 10 list of most anticipated PC games was well received, albeit some people disagreed on some of the picks. We chose games based on their exclusivity and innovation, exactly the way this list is created. Here are ten reasons why you should get a PlayStation 3 console, and it doesn’t include the Blu-ray.
10: Killzone PS3

When Killzone was showcased at E3 2005, it simply blew everyone away. The graphics, physics, atmosphere and everything else was just spectacular. It was the best looking game ever showcased at that point. A few weeks alter, people found out that it was in fact all pre-rendered. That certainly sucked, but if the game manages to deliver a fraction of what was shown, it will still be impressive without a doubt. It gets our 10th spot. Check out the rest after the jump.
9: Full Auto 2: Battlelines

Full Auto 2: Battlelines is an exclusive title for the PS3, an arcade style racing shooter with stunning graphics and physics. You’ll be able to literally shoot your own shortcuts in every map, and blow up objects to block your enemy’s path.
8: Virtua Fighter 5

Virtua Fighter is one of the best known fighting series on the PlayStation. There are no weapons or magic tricks involved, just pure hand to hand combat and great combos. The 5th game will include 2 new characters, alongside the 15 classic ones. You’ll be able to earn in-game money from your matches, and then spend it on items in the shop.
7: Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed, a brand new title from Ubisoft, the creators of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia, amazed everyone with the E3 trailer a few months ago. You play as an assassin in the 12th century during the 3rd crusade war, and your job is to carry out hits on both sides of the conflict. It’s a stealth based action game, much like Splinter Cell, in a huge GTA-like free roaming city.
6: Resistance: Fall of Man

Resistance: Fall of Man takes place during the 1950s, where the earth has been invaded by an alien race. It’s one of the more original PS3 launch titles, an atmospheric game that separates itself from all other WW2-style shooters. Even if Resistance: Fall of Man seems like any other generic shooter, it might end up being a best seller during the PS3 launch period.
5: Resident Evil 5

Capcom has announced that their successful horror series Resident Evil will be coming to the PlayStation 3. The developer will us PS3’s power to create real physics and non-linear gameplay. It will feature some stunning visuals, for instance, each hair on a characters beard, every tooth, every hair will be made of individual polygons. According to the developer, the level of detail will be amazing.
4: Grand Theft Auto IV

There is absolutely no info on GTA 4, just that it’s announced for the PS3, and for the first time, the XBox360. Sony has said that losing GTA 4 as an exclusive PlayStation title won’t hurt them, considering the huge sales and popularity of the previous game, they’re probably right.
3: Gran Turismo HD

If there was one successful game demonstration during the E3 press conference, it has to be Gran Turismo HD. The demo ran in 1080p HD resolution in a constant 60fps, and showed a staggering amount of detail. It will be using the PS3’s harddrive in order to cut down on loading times and speed up the interface. So far the game is scheduled to launch just after the PS3 launch.
2: Final Fantasy XIII

The best selling RPG Final Fantasy will debut on the PS3 sometime in 2007. The 13th edition was unveiled at this year’s E3, this time centering around a futuristic city. The game is build using the new White-engine, an all new software for next-gen games, with the ability to create ultra-realistic cinematics and physics.
1: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

MGS4: Guns of the Patriots sees Solid Snake as the main character again, and pretty much all the other characters from the previous 3 games. You’ve probably seen the 15 minute trailer at this year’s E3, and the stunning gameplay video from last year’s TGS. There is no doubt that MGS4 is the most anticipated title for the PlayStation 3 platform. It is also the last Metal Gear Solid game in the series.
Honorable mentions (in no particular order): Warhawk, MotorStorm, Armored Core 4, Ridge Racer 7, Heavy Rain
Feel free to comment on the list, and mention any game we might have left out, and why you think it should be included.

yeah looks like some cool titles in the works. but the real question is what’s going to be the retail prices on these games. That’s what i wanna know. I’ve seen the price of some PSP games going for over 40 bucks. So can you imagine how much the PS3 games are going to go for?
August 24th, 2006 at 12:09 am
Some of the people in Canada who work for stores have been told 75 - 90 dollars for the price of games.

Wasn’t it said that PS3 “premium games” will be $80-100 each?

Not really there hasnt been any official word yet just nothing but rumors.
August 24th, 2006 at 10:54 pm
heh, rumors my azz! I recently spoke to a buddy of mine who still works as a supervisor for GameStop. he told me that the ball park figure for PS3 games will be around $80 to $100. I didn’t want to believe it either. just call any reputable store that carries video games and ask. With prices like that, Sony has got to be kidding!!

Your buddy probably owns an xbox 360. None of the PS3 games out now or coming out (including those much anticipated “premium” titles are more than $60!

And I’ve been getting my blu ray movies for less than $15.
So your friend is pretty stupid.

Right… all this 80-100 bucks, definitly not. PS3 games only go up to 60, in the future with better games, maybe 70. No more than that. BTW Xbox sucks big white balls -_-
