For the first time at this year’s GC, some rather bad news, Half Life 2: Episode Two will be released in 2007, probably February. Valve’s Doug Lombardi said in an interview with Eurogamer, that is was the good old “classic Valve being overly aggressive on our dates”. As you may know, Valve isn’t known for releasing games on schedule.
It may be because the game will ship with two other games, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, on PC, PS3 and Xbox360. All developed by Valve. Lombardi also mentioned that Episode Two will cost more than Episode One ($19.99), because of the added two games.
On the technical side, the Source engine will once again be upgraded for Episode Two, they had to create whole new environments (now that you’re outside City 17), with new enemies and weapons as well. Watch the gameplay videos of Episode Two here.
