Jack Thompson’s Mob Protest Against Bully

August 29th, 2006 Posted in Offbeat, PlayStation 2, RPG

01.gifLast Friday a group of protesters gathered around Take-Two’s office to show they anger against Bully, the yet to be released and still highly controversial game.

The protesters, from the group Peaceaholics, yelled, “This game is bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!”. Take-Two and developer Rockstar Games previously received complains about GTA: San Andreas, for its violence and the whole Hot Coffee controversy.

This time, the critics claim that Bully will result into more school violence, because the main character is supposed to retaliate against kids and teachers who are bulling him.

Nevertheless, a group called “Peaceaholics” protesting against a videogame. Shouldn’t they be protesting in Washington D.C. anyway? And leave this matter to Jack Thompson, who is already suing Take-Two over Bully?

Update: Check out a video of the protest, and hear a guy saying “violent videogames are worse than terrorists”.

After watching this I must say that some people need to realise that the actual game takes on inspiration from real life.

This game merely looks like a serious parody of school life and I think that maybe some parents need to look at themselves and how they impact kids’ lives before turning on a videogame company just because they had huge controversy over a (IMO) small matter.

Im sure Bully has violence and theres no doubt that when Im playing ti I might get ideas, and start to think what I could have done to the people that bullied me when I was in primary school (I dont get bullied anymore) but really its just a videogame. It shouldnt be taken so seriously.

THis game isnt even out yet and I dont think anyone even knows what you do in it, and its not as if you are a bully, think of it as standing up for yourself. Im sure you have a right to do that.

Im grateful to the software pirate for going into that mob and asking comments from someone.
