PS3 Will Last For 10 Years

Sony’s Kaz Hirai spoke to CNet about the PlayStation 3, Blu-ray, and Sony’s plans to win the next-gen battle. He said that the $600 price tag was a “good value” to consumers, since they expect every PlayStation to last 10 years. The PlayStation 2 for instance, will be in production for another four years after the PS3 hits the market.
Hirai confirmed to CNet that Sony would ship 2 million PS3’s at launch; they just haven’t “announced” the production yet.

OK Kaz. The Playstation 3 will last ten years. But are you planning on releasing the playstation 4 in six years from now, and then continue manufacture the playstation 3 for another four years? It seems like Sony never tells the whole truth. And manufacturing the playstation 2 for another 4 years seems… Well…. It sounds strange in my ears. Especially when Sony has announced that you can play both P-one and P-2 games on the Playstation 3, so what’s the point in buying a playstation 2, except for the price?

Sony cares for the little people and thats why i like them.Sony knows not everybody can afford new next system’s so its kool to keep suporting old consoles for the longest time possible.
Ps2 is still selling like hot cakes hell it even sells more then xbox 360 in the states,its good to know they try to support their old consoles even when the new ones are out.
something microsoft and nintendo dont want they seem like they just care for the $$$$ ,well they all want money thats why they are multi0billion dollar companies ,ok not nintendo but Sony and microsoft are.
now looking at how much microsoft cares about xbox owners then said a while ago we leave the xbox to die and focus now in xbox 360. wow how about people who cant afford xbox 360 and only have xbox.
now nintendo they delayed the new zelda just to put it at launch with the new system ,so its going to sell good beacuase of that one game. but basically saying like scre you gc owners buy new system if u wanna play new zelda a game that was supposed to be for the failure gc.

Yeah nintendo made alot of money back in the day when it had a complete hand held monopoly 100% zero competition.
its the same reason why microsoft has so much money also it has an OS monopoly.
now Sony doesnt have any monopolies. hes always in competition.
to sum this up just look at history.
sega,nintendo.microsoft consoles tend to last only 5-6 years one generation Sony consoles alst 10 years it happend with the PSX looking at the sales of the PS2 its now onder its going to happend for him two.
