Game Site Happy Puppy For Sale

One of the very first gaming sites, Happy Puppy, is up for sale. The site was ranked “number one game site” in 1996 by BusinessWeek, but failed to keep the users coming as other, more prominent sites (like, GameSpot, IGN) came.

The current owner, DMA Holdings, says they don’t have any interest in continuing running the site. DMA bought the site in 2002 from Globe, who in 1999 spent $27 million acquiring it. Even without any updates or maintenance the past few years, happypuppy.com still got 178,000 visitors in July ‘06.

The price tag is set at $350,000, however it’s not an eBay auction like Kiko.com, the failed Web 2.0 site.
