Toshiba has announced their plans to launch the HD-A1 HD-DVD player in Europe only 3 days before the PlayStation 3 arrives, November 17th. The price is expected at £400, compared with PS3’s £425 price tag.
Toshiba’s HD-DVD player has already sold over 50,000 units in US and Japan, and will become the first next-gen optical storage device in Europe, followed by the PS3 a few days later. Toshiba plans to sell 200,000 units this year worldwide.
Other Blu-ray manufacturers like Pioneer, Panasonic, and Samsung plan to release their Blu-ray players in October.

2‘ ‘ Recently the Blu-ray Disk Association (BDA) announced that Sun Microsystems would join the board. The reason is that, if you did not know already, blu-ray disks will use Sun’s Java to power the interactivity; menus and those lame games that they tried to implement on DVD9s, although with Java the games should be slightly better. Sun now sits on the board among other members such as Apple, Sony Corporation, Twentieth Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Samsung, and others. Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven (Director’s Cut) is said to use the Java menu extensively and will even include a game that uses scenes from the movie. ‘ ‘
Oh my god finally everything is looking beautifull for Sony and Blu-Ray. all the haters are going to cry hehehehe.

3Well if you read all the reviews you’d see that bluray movies look worse when when compared to hd-dvd. Say what you will to justify your ps3 purchase but bluray is visually inferior to hd-dvd so far. There are multiple audio/visual magazines and web sites that are less than impressed.

4Its not about quality is never was ,look at betamax is had better quality but fail beacuase it didnt have anough support like vhs.including pron.
now Blu-Ray has the upper hand almoat twice the data storage per layer. 80% of movies companies supporting it and tons the best support over all and it has the PS3.
no doubt Blu-Ray will win.
if i was toshiba i give up already.

5Porn is one of the reason BetaMax failed ,so this time Blu-Ray will be suported by the mayor porn industries.
