IBM Shipping Wii Chips. So What?
September 8th, 2006 Posted in Offbeat, Rumor, Technology, Wii
I don’t know exactly who started all of this, but the “news” that IBM is already producing and shipping Wii CPUs is spreading like a forest fire at the moment. A simple PR statement from IBM (and Nintendo) escalated into “big time news”.
None of it is news of course, we’ve known that IBM has been producing the chips for quite a while now, but apparently some of my fellow bloggers from Joystiq and Kotaku didn’t. Joystiq editor Chris Grant later apologized for the whole thing. Even Gamasutra and Slashdot jumped on the wagon.
P.S. We know we’re not any better than Joystiq and Kotaku, once we actually posted this, and called it “news”.

big bummer by joystiq, they hyped it up before they even posted the news. and then it turns out it’s no big deal at all

I havent visisted Joystiq and Kotaku and like a year or more now ,we all know about 95% of their blogers are nothing but anti-sony and nintendo fanboys and are always giving news with biased information so i dont bother with them anymore, i know they are both very popular sites though keep the the biased work.
and yes IBM is actually making chips for all 3 systems this new gen. if someone is a real winner in this next gen. thats IMB and their stockholder’s.
