Try putting your arms and hands ahead of you.. just still, not even moving. If you keep it up longer then 30 minutes. I salute you!
Fact of the matter is; you cannot hold your hands like that for very long, let alone with added wheight AND moving your wrist all the time. You’ll see what I mean after 2 hours of wii-rkout. (god, I’m so funny)
Now I dont know about you, but I reaallllly need more then 30 minutes to defeat a final fantasy boss or whatever:P
On the other hand, it’s good for obese people, and since most elderly nintendo abiding people are notorious for their wheight issues (as proven by Science), it’s a smart move of big N to rejuvenile their clients (as if they havent rejuviniled them enough the last 2 decades)

Have you ever played a handheld game? The Wii is much like that, and being that the Wiimote is as heavy as the DS lite, it’s not that tiring.

Have you tried not to hold your entire ARMS out, but just your forearm? It’s how many people play with the DS lite, and it’s not that tiring.

I saw the promotion vids about the wii and it’s usage. But I really really really really have honnest doubts that the control method is practical.
It is very original, it is innovative, it might even get a new gaming sensation, like fps fighting games and some sporting ones. Maybe even fps-es due to the tiring-mechanics making for added realism.
But I really dont think it’s useful for racings, standard beat em ups (being not first person ones, like tekken / doa / mortal kombat etc etc), survival horror, sim games, adventures and all the other ones I forgot. The games that make people play longer and move more. These are coincidentally also the games that make or break (when absent) a console.
But I might be wrong, maybe you can actually control the wiimoot succesfully without having accute rsi attacks, time will tell.

If you see mgs 4 trailers, which I assume are realtime rendered, just like the mgs series always has been, you must see the difference between an a- xbox title and an a- ps3 one.
Then again, xbox is cheaper (and with normy dvds:P)

Hehe, this is good. The first playable games roll in, everybody is still astounded by the ps3 visuals (xbox360 too on their 2nd gen. titles)

Obviously someone who hasn’t held or used the Wiimote.
It’s actually quite comfortable, and in no way requires you to hold your arms outstretched, and locked at the elbow, for extended periods of time. Since it detects its own distance from the sensor bar, sitting like you normally do with a PS2 or Xbox or GC or Xbox 360 controller (IE comfortably) worked quite well.
The PS3 controller was also light, and comfortable, but felt a little flimsy compared to the PS2 controller.
Of course, the Wiimote had rumble and a speaker (which you couldn’t hear over the rest of E3, though) in it, while the PS3 controller had no rumble and only had one game to test the tilt functionality (Warhawk). Every PS3 controller was hooked in by built into the controller wires, though… none of the Wiimote ones were. Hell, I don’t even know how you’re supposed to recharge the Wiimote, honestly; the PS3 ones use a USB cable to recharge.
But, you in no way have to hold your arm out in an uncomfortable position to use the Wiimote. If you honestly think you do, then you’re either a blithering Sony fanboi, or just an idiot… take your pick.

Gears of War is “pathetic” in game? This just shows that you, Shaka, are a blithering idiot and a Sony fanboi.
The Unreal Engine 3 powering Gears of War is nothing short of fantastic, and possibly the most visually advanced gaming engine to date right now… or did you forget how Sony wants the UE3 as middleware for the PS3?
Remember, Sony used Unreal Tournament 2007 at their press conference last year, and Microsoft used Gears of War at theirs this year. Both games made by Epic. Both games using the Unreal Engine 3, also made by Epic.
So, if Gears of War is “pathetic” in game, then I suppose that Sony’s use of Unreal Tournament 2007 was also equally as pathetic?

Actually, only Heavenly Sword looked anywhere near the quality that Sony showed off at E3 ‘05. NOTHING they showed off looked as good as the pre-rendered footage used for E3 ‘05. Nothing.
Heavenly Sword looked the closest, but, it still wasn’t completely the same, it had taken a turn for the worse, graphically. This doesn’t mean it was a bad looking game, none of them were particularly bad looking, but it was not the same as we were shown before.
Should I bring up how far of a tumble Tekken took compared to the footage shown at E3 ‘05? Or the fact there was no Killzone shown, except for the PSP version?
Remember, Sony likes to show off pre-rendered video as their footage, a lot. Trusting any pre-rendered footage released by anyone as what to expect in-game is a bad move.
The only thing to believe from E3 ‘05 was the Unreal Tournament 2007 footage. The UE3 is just that good. Odd how the only UT2007 stuff shown this year was for the PC, though, eh?

Goes for all software companies, nintendo,sega,xbox,ea,eidos
All of them have prerendered in the past as well. Also, I wasn’t trying to deny that the killzone (all else was rt) was prerendered, however, the ingame visuals are still ahead of even pc standards, so yeah, that’s pretty astounishing, even though you find it lukewarm:P and I was referring to e3 ‘06 ofcourse, since that’s ingame stuff.
And stop the swearing unless you need it back at you.

62The only thing that could be verified as real time from E3 ‘05 was the Unreal Tournament 2007 demo, because they were able to move the camera around. Nothing else was real time at the ‘05 press conference that can be verified (going rewind and fast forward like on the EA Fight Night demo is not real time, any DVD player can do that). Even Heavenly Sword was pre-rendered, but the game has come close to that pre-rendered in looks while playing.
And anything shown at the boring conference this year (so glad I was stuck in the 8th row for that one…), that wasn’t being played on the floor or on stage can’t be said to all be real time, either. Some of the more impressive footage, like that shooting game in the desert, was not on the show floor in playable format, and thus cannot be assumed to be real time.
Remember, people assumed that Killzone from ‘05 was real time, and that came back to bite them in the ass.
Never assume anything is real time in-game footage until you actually can play it. That’s why I don’t assume the Halo 3 footage shown was real time, nor that some other games shown off by Nintendo or Microsoft were real time. And I never assume Sony shows off real time graphics until I can play them first hand, either on the show floor or in my home.
I missed my chance to play Gears of War, but got to see a demo of Unreal tournament 2007 being played. I got to try Huxley. Al three games use the Unreal Engine 3… so, that, I can believe is real time. Anything shown off on the PS3, 360, or Wii that I couldn’t play on the floor (or at least have the chance too, my having to skip it for other things does not mean I couldn’t have played them), I do not assume was real time.

Anyhow, I’ve noticed the impressive game lineup for the PSP this holiday season. For example:
Ace Combat X, Gunpey, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Jeanne d’Arc, Kingdom of Paradise 2, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Metal Slug Collection, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Valhalla Knights and Winning Eleven 2007.
I can honestly, without fanboy grandeur, predict that the DS reign will not last beyond the the 1st quater, 2007. The Lipzieg game convention let you know that despite sales numbers(in comparison to the DS), the PSP was far from dead- remember? Yet many of you still refuse to acknowledge this, citing your kiddy game titles for the DS.
Have your fun, Ninny fanboys. It doesn’t make a difference what you say about Sony. The bottom line is that the PS3 and the PSP will be an amazing tag team combination allowing you to do things like access the contents of your next gen console from your PSP anywhere in the world; use your PSP as a remote control for the PS3; use your PSP as an extra game screen while playing on your PS3; did I mention BROWSING THE CONTENTS of your PS3 from your PSP.
So you Nintendogs can have your lil’ Mario and Pokemon games. I’ll stick with the team that holds the future of GAMING AND ENTERTAINMENT..

79Shaka is in such huge denial about Gears of War … that is the best looking game in the universe on any platform … Period. Definitely looks better than anything I have seem on the PS/3 up until this point. The texturing alone puts it a level above anything right now. Maybe if some of those PS/3 games were textured better they could compete but for now no games look as good as Gears, Mass Effect, and UT2K7 (which will be on the PS/3 this time around just for you Shaka).

Shaka just doesn’t get it … the PS/3 may be good but the really sweet looking games are just not on that platform. And Alan Wake will be on the 360 as well. Crysis may eventually make it to the PS/3 but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Anyway Gears is still tops on my list but Alan Wake looks stunning.

The PSP may not be dead, but at a 2:1 NDS:PSP ratio in the US and a 8:1 in Japan, it’s not looking good for the PSP. When these so-called “kiddy” NDS titles sell better/get better reviews than anything else on the PSP, it makes a good referance for how well both handhelds are doing.

And I have to disagree and say that Gears does not look like all the other UE3 titles … it’s the texturing that really sets it apart. Shaka you are just in denial and as I have seen over the past few weeks there is no point in discussing things with you once you make up your mind. But Gears is definitely LOTS better than anything (other than UT2K7) on the PS/3 they have showed thus far … although I’m still waiting to see what KillZone REALLY looks like, talking about CGI that is all we have seen from the former Halo Killer.

Of course, this has absolutely nothing to do with the failure rate of PS2s, does it?
My first PS2 completely died after a year and a half of not even what one would consider “normal use.” One day I popped in a game, got the “Disc Read Error” message. Seemed to fix itself after resetting, but then became more frequent, until, finally, no matter what type of disk was put in it (DVD movie, DVD game, CD game, CD music), it would give me nothing but “Disc Read Error” messages.
My launch unit PS had to be upside down after 6 months or it wouldn’t play games.
I know people who are on their 3rd PS2 consoles, because they just keep breaking, but I also know people who got lucky and still have launch PS2s that work fine.
Remember, Sony lost a class action lawsuit about the “Disc Read Error” messages because they claimed it was a fluke, that it was happening to a very minute amount of units, and that they would not fix it. Now, all you have to do to get a free repair or a new PS2 in the US when you call them is mention “Disc Read Error” and have the serial number show it is from a certain time of manufacture. They wouldn’t have lost the class action suit if the problems weren’t real or were as small as they claimed.
Sony’s track record for quality control with the PS and PS2 is quite poor, and their lack of quality control obviously has nothing to do with how many PS and PS2s were sold because units kept breaking, right? Lots of people don’t bother with customer support because most companies’ customer support is horrible, and it is just easier to go get a new item to replace the broken one. Plus, I think the US is the only country where they had the lawsuit, and lost it, so around the world many people are probably SOL and just have to buy new units.
But, I;m certain that this hasn’t inflated the number of consoles sold, at all…

We are talking about FPS and Action games and games where you see lots of explosions, details in the environments, character models, etc. A sports game is not even close to the same thing … compare that to Forza 2 when it comes out. Now do you have a real game to compare Gears of War with … hmmm nope. There is none on the PS/3.
