1UP reports that SEGA’s upcoming tennis title, Virtua Tennis 3, will support 1080p on the PS3, the highest HD resolution available. SEGA showed off the title at a press event held in Tokyo yesterday running on 1080p screens. Virtua Tennis 3 is now the second title confirmed to use 1080p, Gran Turismo HD being the first one.

How many people actually have or can even afford a good 1080p HDTV? I just bought a 720p HDTV a few months ago and there is no way I can afford to upgrade any time soon. But it is really something that they do have games that run at that spec. Still I’ll just stick to 720p/1080i gaming with the 360 for now. In a couple of years when SED TVs are in the market then I’ll get a 1080p HDTV and then a PS/3.

”How many people actually have or can even afford a good 1080p HDTV?”
Good point. Or I or 720 or whatever.
However, in the next 5 years from now a lot more people will, probably possess hd tvs. Personally I dont give a SH*T yet about those things untill they are more moderately priced. I still prefer my big 70 cm square tv anytime, which only cost me like 400 euros 2 years ago. And guess what? Most of the tv shows arent even widescreen yet! Anyway it’s interesting to see what’s best, since it can determine something about the future of those consoles their resolutions and possibilities.

Yeah Doom, most TV shows aren’t in widescreen yet. And practically none is in HD. The only reason to get a really expensive HD TV right now would be so that you can watch your sparkling new HD-DVD’s or Blu-rays, or play tennis

The PS3 has a life span of 10 years thats why it needs to support the best technology.
1080p is the future i will get one this x-mas to play it with my PS3 and watch Blu-Ray in full 1080p glory.

”The PS3 has a life span of 10 years”
Don’t overdo it, please wahahahha!
But I also think it will stay inthe market for a long period. Look at the playstation2 for example, it outlived xbox by 2 years and counting.
One might say that’s a bad thing, but I like it, since I do not want to keep buying new systems.

the PS2 has been outselling the xbox 360 ,you know its going to last like 5 more years easily.

Doom, your comment on why not to get an HDTV now is how I feel exactly.
Thank you. ^_^
