September 25th, 2006 Posted in News
CESA, the organizer of the Tokyo Game Show, has given out the awards for this year’s best of show.
- Gran Turismo HD – Sony (PS3)
- The Eye of Judgment – Sony (PS3)
- Heavenly Sword – Sony (PS3)
- Blue Dragon – Microsoft (Xbox360)
- Lost Planet – Capcom (Xbox360)
- Elebits – Konami (Wii)
- Seiken Densetsu 4 (Dawn of Mana) – Square/Enix (PS2)
- Tales of Destiny – Namco/Bandai (PS2)
- Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops – Konami (PSP)
- Monster Hunter Portable 2nd – Capcom (PSP)
- Phoenix Wright – Capcom (NDS)
So pretty much everyone wins and no one goes home empty handed. Except Nintendo, they weren’t oficially represented at the show this year.

uh yeah … Sony dominates the TGS … what a surprise. meh. That is just crazy … 7 out of 11 and only two of each of the others … That is kind of hard to believe but I guess Sony games just appeal to the Japanese market more.

Sony has DOMINATED the TGS this year. Now who would have thought of that, huh? My gosh, even the games for the PSP received more generous acolades than.. you know.
Nintendo, stand up! LOL

It’s because they didn’t represent themselves at the TGS. >_>
Notice how only 3rd parties won for Nintendo consoles, because again-Nintendo didn’t represent themselves.

“It’s because they didn’t represent themselves at the TGS.”
But why not? I don’t get it. One of the biggest-if not THE biggest- game shows of the year and Nintendo decides to just pull a no-show?? I’m lost here. I thought that Nintendo ruled Japan in gaming. I figured that they’d have half the place reserved for themselves! Why would they not showcase their upcoming games at the TGS? I’d love to hear the logic behind that move.

From Satoru Iwata: “… We have already displayed the Wii and it’s games at our September 14th Wii Event, and the [TGS] was too close to the Wii Event to be of amny more intrest to us. [The TGS] is also time and money consuming to showcase our games and consoles.”

Yes, at TGS 2006, Sony made the best showing.
Games for Sony’s consoles won the most awards.
Congratulations, Sony.
There’s no need for defense, that’s just how it is. Just go along with it.

Satoru Iwata: “… We have already displayed the Wii and it’s games at our..”
Well i guess that would make sense. But it’s just nice to see that, finally, Sony is once again receiving some positive press for it’s game titles.
