New Metal Gear Solid 4 Screenshots

New screenshots of Metal Gear Solid 4, some seen in the newest trailer showcased at TGS a few days ago. A number of the screens are the same as those blurry one displayed in the recent magazine scans, this time all crisp and in 1080p. Full resolution available here, more screens after the jump.
Character details look great, but to be honest, they rest doesn’t look as impressive as one might expect (looking at the 1080p ones). There is only minor anti- aliasing and no HDR lightning at all. A modern gaming PC could handle these sort of graphics. The Xbox360 certainly could. However, keep in mind that the game is far from completion and won’t be out in at least another full year.

From what I see, there’s a huge difference between what we were shown in the past labeled as “in-game” action, & what we see now. The textures are good, but the models are quite weak, on a regular TV, wich 95% of the population owns, the textures will lose quality, making it even harder to justify the high price-point… PS3 FTL!!!

Yeah the textures are pretty low-res…I’m hoping that is just because they haven’t optimized yet and this is far from the final graphics. If this is all the PS3 has to offer when they are constantly saying that the PS3 will have better graphics than the 360 then they will be in for a suprise when Gears of War hits 5 days before the PS3 is released and it looks 3x better. Personally I’m disappointed with these screenshots…
First screen has an extremely noticeable cloned box (with the drapery folding over the sides) and lame looking smoke…I would have thought some people paid attention to Call of Duty 2 more considering it did get game of the year and had awesome smoke…
All the “dirty” maps are so low res it looks like it belongs on PS2 honestly…the worst looking one is where Snake is leaning over the railing shooting down… and what’s up with the environments? Can they be anymore bland and unappealing? That is the cleanest alleyway that I’ve ever seen.
*Still waits to be wowed by this expensive system.*

Not really impressed atm the textures look like A$$, the smoke is kinda just like the burn effect in photoshop with haze around it (thats some brihgt lookin smoke) the sky looks like shit, and the ledge with him leaning over it looks so low rez’d.
Shaka jerk off to this if u want, all I know is this game has a while to come out and better put alot more into it if want’s to justify $600.

Not impressed too, nice’ish Normal Maps on the main character… the rest is just plain… seen it a year ago on G.R.A.W. for the 360…

Bah … those shots look good … I will give it that but c’mon Gears of War blows them away … anyway R:FoM looks almost as good … Xbox360 still looks like the winner at this point. Sony better come with it and really show why their system is the one to get. This doesn’t quite do the trick. Gears and Halo 3 (the little that we have been shown) and Mass Effect all look much better.

Lost Planet looks good but the gameplay seems like it could get difficult pretty fast since you have to keep killing just to stay alive. Still it is another great 360 title that looks really good and one I plan on buying.

Capcoms lost planet and dead rasing may come to PS3.
Remenber anything can happend and this is Capcom the one that promise to god, RE4 was going to stay gc exclusive.

Capcom already stated that Lost Planet is a 360 exclusive PERIOD. It is not going to be on the PS/3 … but I don’t know about Dead Rising … maybe eventually, since Capcom has not definitively stated it won’t be ported.

There has been an article since then that makes it clear Lost Planet is staying exclusive. If I can find it I’ll post the link.

Sorry Shaka but I found that link and it definitely confirms no Lost Planet for PS/3 players but Capcom will probably make a great title for the PS/3 and not port it to the 360 … y’know .. like DMC4.

Oh that was the same article … duh. But yeah it makes it clear that no Lost Planet is coming for the PS/3 unless I missed something.
“For games such as Lost Planet and Dead Rising, the Xbox 360 was the target platform. Since they have been created specifically to take advantage of the system’s capabilities, we have no plans at this time to port or develop these titles for any other console.”
So of course they can change their mind and maybe they will but they are stating for the record there is no PS/3 version on the horizon.
