Those Japanese gamers, we never quite get them. Apparently, the launch of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl for the DS sold over 1 million copies per game during the first few hours it went on sale. In addition, 500,000 units of customized Pokemon DS Lites were sold. Both games and the speacial edition DS Lite are sold out now.

Photos of hundreds of Japanese gamers waiting in line to get a Pokemon game after the jump.

Wow. That is cool. I want one of those DSes.

  2. Kaiser Soze Says:

That sounds amazing. Im really excited to watch the numbers for hardware and software sales for this week. Especially the hardware. The 500.000 copies of special editions of the DS plus the normal DS lite. What will it end up with? Though I would never buy a pokemon game myself, I think it’s an incredible franchise in the sense of how hooked people get by it.

  3. Lemond Says:

Kaiser Soze, have you ever played Pokemon, especially Red or Blue? It’s quite a fun game.

BTW, your name seems familiar. Have I seen it on another forum somewhere?

  4. dominant Says:

lemond, have you ever seen the movie “usual suspects”? thats where you’ve heard the name “kaiser soze”.

  5. Jim2k Says:

Yeah, Kaiser Soze, great character in Usual Suspecs, immortalised by Kevin Spacey’s performance.

  6. Legend Says:

    Wow thats cool

  7. RisingSunofNihon Says:

That’s just crazy stuff, especially when you look at the kind of people that are standing in lines there. No school kids at all, and not even many teenagers. These are all college students, businessmen, etc. It’s just incredible the way the whole Pokemon franchise has been able to sustain profitability for this long.

  8. Kaiser Soze Says:

Lemond: If you haven’t seen me in another forum, then definately in that film where I play the hero.

BTW. I havent played any pokemon games, but i bet they are fun. But a day only lasts 50 hours, and I got things to do. I’ve seen a couple of the serials, but I never got really hooked on it. On the other hand, I never liked the Mario cartoons either, but that never stopped me playing the games anyway

Why even do such a comment?

  12. GameGod Says:

since in th pics there’s no trace of children, only adults, some of them being elders… again, doom the troll…

  13. Kaiser Soze Says:

I wonder how Phantom hourglass will be recieved. Maybe they are not releasing it yet due to cartrigde shortages? Just a thought. Or maybe the Wii? Do anybody else know why the release date has been moved?

  14. ikariya Says:

perhaps, the place in the photograph is Marunouchi

  15. Craig Says:

The release date for US is 22nd April 2007
