Nintendo Running Out Of Plastic DS Boxes

September 29th, 2006 Posted in Business, Nintendo DS, Portable

nds-mariokart-jap.jpgApparently Nintendo is selling so many DS games that they are running out of plastic boxes. At the moment they are using GBA style cardboard boxes for top sellers such as Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Tetris DS. So far only Europe has to bear with the cardboard boxes, but Nintendo includes an offer to order a plastic replacement when they have enough plastic.

It’s quite funny to think of. Never heard about those problems before in the game industry. Perhabs the only exception is, also for the DS, the gamecard shortages. But hey, plastic boxes, that’s kind of a luxury problem
