Peter Moore Thinks MS Will Sell 100m 360s
September 30th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Business, Offbeat, Rumor, Xbox360
Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Interactive Entertainment Business, Entertainment and Devices Division (all Microsoft bosses have really long, cool titles), says during an interview that Microsoft will sell 100 million Xbox360 consoles. They’ll do it by expanding the market and target general non-gamers.
“If you’re going to hit 100 million you need to address that market. We’re still finding ways to be able to do that, but we will. I absolutely guarantee that we will.

For Peter Moore to think this he must have been drunk, high, or just plain stupid. Selling 100mill consoles would be very unlikely considering they have 2 competitors in the market. For this 2 happen in my opinion, the Wii would have 2 flop and cast off like the Gamecube and the 360 must get more exclusives from Sony and take some of their prized possesions like Metal Gear, Devil May Cry and more.
The 360 would have to be the only console out their on the market to provide compelling games. They would need all the PS2 and Xbox owners to buy the 360 for this 2 happen and expand the market but the only ones doing that is Nintendo. Microsoft so far is doing a horrible job of getting the attention of non-gamers 2 me.

Not even nintendo has ever reached 100 million sold in his whole 25+ year in the gaming business and with his million of blind fanboys around the world.
That said, only Sony PS1 and PS2 have reached the magical 100million+ sold world wide.
Nobody else can doit but Sony.
Sony is like no other.
gaming wise.
Sony > Sega,Atari,nintendo,jaguar,neo-geo,xbox ect.
all facts people!

The DS will reach 100 million too, they sold 22 million in one year, and over 100 million games.

You have to ask yourself, how many of those 100 million PS2’s sold were to the same person? I mean, I personally bought 2 PS2’s because my first one broke. I’m sure a lot of people were in the same boat.

What is your point Shaka?

As much as I like my 360 I have a hard time believing that lofty goal can be acheived by this particular console … maybe in 4 years when it is $150 then they’ll sell 10s of millions … who knows but with the prices the way they are and the competition from the Wii and even Sony I just can’t see that happening.

It seemed to me that he was guaranteeing that they would address the non-gamer market and that they would have to addres it if they ever want to reach 100M sales.
Did that thought ever cross anyone else’s mind? Just curious.

Competition is going to be very tough this generation. The 360’s a pretty good system (despite all the hardware failures) and it’s software library is getting pretty good, but while i think the industry will continue to grow and expand, I don’t expect any competitor to reach 100 million units this time around.

The only console currently capable of reching 100 million is the DS. I think Wii, 360 and the PS3 will reach 50 million each, tops.

Shaka. You didn’t even need to reply. Your fanboyism is expected, no need to proove it again.
Nintendo has never “only for kids”. They’ve always targeted all audiences, the same way The Simpsons does.

peter moore needs to stop and smoke moore weed lol ,I dont know why people try to top Sonys numbers they should be happy the are sellin period , my view on the gameboy numbers the first ones sold because they were the only hand helds out at that time but it looks like those numbers are goin down thats not good . If the psp comes down that will cut in on there profit , this is the one reason the (even though creative) gameboy advance and really the DS and Nintendo numbers stack up lol POKEMON ! if they didnt have that, then half their profit would not exist . these people are cracked out on that shit everwhere well back on topic the Wii is gone slowly catch up to micro and may take a lead do to the cheaper price and while they duke it out Sony will start comin up in later years since they are goin for a 10 year life cycle . I think the Wii will last about 4 or 5 years , then the 360 about 5 or 6 , and the ps3 about 8 to 10 . maybe nine. 10 is pushin it ..

Agree
Who gives a fart what your console of choise sells? As long as the good games keep coming, I cant see how it really conserns anybody. Unless you own shares in the Goddamn thing. (Why didn’t I buy stocks in Nintendo in 2003?)

It probably has to do with the India launch. There is just so many people there and there going to be launching there soon for the holidays. Also with no PS3 until mar07 for Europe there probably thinking 360 will sell more since there is no next gen comp in europe come xmas.
