GameStop First To Hold Wii Demo Kiosks
October 3rd, 2006 by Kevin Cortez in Business
At an annual sales conference, GameStop has revealed that it will be the only retailer to carry playable Wii demo kiosks at the Wii’s launch, according to Dallas Morning News.
Although GameStop will be the first and only retailer to hold Wii demo kiosks at launch, it has been noted that many online reports suggest that Wal-Mart will acquire some Wii demo kiosks in Q1 of 2007.
The source also has stated that GameStop is going to continue to hold off on PS3 and Wii pre-orders until the company knows what the supply and demand will be like. When Microsoft’s Xbox 360 launched, GameStop did not have enough consoles to give out to all of their costumers that preordered the console. This year, GameStop will be trying to avoid this problem.
President of GameStop, Steve Morgan, has commented on the preordering issue by stating “I think the lesson is caution and optimism at the same time.”

Oh well the GREAT news here is that there Kiosks are true demo kiosks featuring playable games unlike “The Monolith” that Sony has recently unleashed.
