GameStop Taking PS3 Pre-orders

Leading games retailer GameStop (with EB Games as well) is taking pre-orders on the PlayStation 3 from today. The news was announced to online customers in an email saying that October 10 will have the PS3 ready for pre-order. There is no information on exactly how many PS3s GameStop will have, but the emails stresses that it’s an “extremely limited” amount of consoles. From the letter (bolds are original)
“GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes.
The letter also mentions that potential buyers will have to pay $100 in deposit. Considering there will be shortages at launch, the pre-order will most likely sell-out instantly, as GameStop suggests.
[Update] The pre-order PS3 consoles were, as anticipated, sold out in a matter of minutes, as gamers waited in line (some even spent the night in front of the store) to get a pre-order on the console. IGN has some details and photos here, so does Joystiq and ArsTechnica.

I’m a european, and yes.. I’m glad we gotta wait. It’s always been like this so:P I was gonna wait anyway cuz I’m still doubting between 360 vs ps3 ofcourse. I must judge the games for myself first before making the investment. Sooooo, I feel better that I can watch the world fight the console wars before it comes in my country. That way I’ll get the info anyway + I wont fall behind on my countrymen who could potentionally stab my eyes out with the newest ps3 gfx.
So basically my reason for happily waiting is totally sickminded and narrow, but fuck it, i’m glad my neighbour wont have the ps3 much sooner than I possibly will:P

Doom & Shaka will be the first ones in line camping out in the rain and snow waiting for their PS3! All hail PS3 the ultimate gaming system of all time and the Wii is a kiddy gimmick console and the 360 is a cheap PS3. PS3 rules them all! Ah HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Just playing around but I think Europe gets the consoles last because game publishers think that the US and Japanese market is better than the Europe market. The games would sell more in USA & Japan.Atleast thats why I think Europe gets the games last. They need to change that. Just a quick question Kaiser, does the voice acting and words in European games english or does it depend on where U live in Europe?

I know Europe is only the third biggest market, it’s just annoying.
The thing about translation makes sence when I think about it. All the manuals are translated as well, and the packaging is also individual in some contries. Same thing with DVDs. In Europe there are different areas with different distributors. So if I buy a DVD from somewhere else in Europe I might not even be able to switch english subtitles on, or original spoken language. And that could be a reason to delays… But WTF do I know

Im not buying one, its too expensive, for the same price I get the parts for a more powerful PC. Roll on the cheap 360 and Wii for the rest

I’m waiting for God of War 3 … and by then all the bugs and kinks will be worked out and maybe the price will have come down. We are talking about 2 years from now.

damn I hope Shaka got one. I don’t think he can manage without 2nd place nextgen console. lol SONY new that most of there systems would end up on ebay so they made agreements to ban ebayers with preorders lol. damn SONY I hope my friend doesn’t have to keep that shit cause it’s burning a whole in his pocket.

I think europe is last because we got no balls.
I wish this wasn’t true, but it is. While the usa is the most hated nation in the world, we the europeans are the most laughed at continent in the world:P
C’mon! Even japan gets their stuff earlier then us. And they can’t even see straight! Europe is (I CORRECT YOU AGAIN KAISER SOZE NOOB!) the biggest market for electronics in the world, same for consoles. I think we europeans ought to conquer the world again to get some respect! Aaah the good ol’ 1600 dayz. Let the slavery begin!
