You forgot the D-cable,to hook the Wii to a (my sweet 21″) PC monitor, wich coststhe same 2,500 Yen ($21)…
October 12th, 2006 at 12:21 am
@ GameGod :
the D-cable that you’re referring to is a cable to hook up to a D-Terminal port and not a D-Sub. D-Terminal ports are used in Japan primarily on televisions. If your monitor has a D-Terminal port, that’d be the first time I heard of a monitor having one.
No vga cables (which you can connect to a D-Sub port) have been announced by Nintendo.. which is a real shame as I was hoping for one myself.

“30 bucks for an 512mb SD card ???

What do you pay? What’s the normal price?
October 12th, 2006 at 6:25 am
Highly overpriced products for a highly overated gimmick wii.
makes sence = failiture.
October 12th, 2006 at 6:27 am
failiture? lol
If it sells, then it’s not a failiture.
Wanna answer my question now? Or ignore it like always?
October 12th, 2006 at 8:53 am
if it sells 100+ million world wide then maybe not.
but the kiddie games for the system suck anyways,so they will sell like 20 million in 6 years.
While the PS3 destroys both the xbox 360 & wii combined sales-wise.
October 12th, 2006 at 10:09 am
“if it sells 100+ million world wide then maybe not.”
What if it sells more than the PS3? But less than 100+ million. Is it then a failure? And what does that make PS3?
What is your opinion of PSP? Is it a failure?
October 12th, 2006 at 10:52 am
“but the kiddie games for the system suck anyways,so they will sell like 20 million in 6 years.”
really? you went into the future and played them all?
“While the PS3 destroys both the xbox 360 & wii combined sales-wise.”
what year… actually.. what dimension are you in shaka?
October 16th, 2006 at 11:53 am
“True, when I took mushrooms I think I might have really enjoyed the colourful depth and meaning of the cables as well.”
traffic lights are color coded as well. get used to it.

i was just simply stating that the wii is aimed towards a much wider audience than just children, Iwata states it is for both people who have never gamed before and those who have, anyone can jump right into it.

Wow, that might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. 1st of all, Kiddy games? Like Red Steel, Zelda, and Metroid Prime? At least 2 of those are going to be phenomenal. Twilight Princess is en route to becomeing the greatest game in history, at least if it’s as good as Nintendo says it is. Metroid Prime was the best game of the current generation, and MP3 is looking to continue the trend. Also, gimmicky? So innovative gameplay is a gimmick? I say having to spend $600 for 1080p and a new media format is a gimmick. How many people actaully own a 1080p TV, or will buy one to play PS3 on? Only the rich, which is a small portion of the population. The 360 has a killer 2007 linup so far, starting in Nov. with Gears of War, and then games like Forza 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Too Human, and Bioshock among others are all coming out. What does PS3 have? MGS4? So far it’s not that impressive, at least not as impressive as MGS3 looked before release. Wii is much less expensive, innovative, well designed, has a huge number of games in the launch window, and the Virtual Console, meaning the system has a ton of classics even without Wii software. So far PS3 is looking to be the looser of the whole next gen, with Wii winning the holiday season and the 360 proabably taking most of 2007. After that it’s anyone’s game, that is between Wii and 360. PS3 is pretty much out of the running unless it gets some killer titles, and Sony can supply enough to meet demand, which Nintendo is doing with the Wii. So please, put some though into what you say, and don’t waste everybody’s time being a n00b fanboy.

‘ ‘ Blablbal zelda is a kiddy game, just like metroid, duh. ‘ ‘
Well actually everything nintendo makes is kiddie mostly the games the desing of the consoles just look at the game cube it was a handle on the back. hahahaha
now tell me that doesnt look like a launch box?
hahahaha not kiddie.
October 19th, 2006 at 11:27 am
i am pretty sure resident evil 4 isnt a kiddy game, it was a game cube exclusive and won game of the year
October 19th, 2006 at 12:44 pm
But shaka doesn’t like it so it doesn’t matter. Everything shaka likes is the best. These are the facts.

True that.

Mmmm RE is a series that started with the PS1 and since day one sold like hot cakes and it was basically a PlaySations series, saturn, dreamcast and even the game cube got his spin-offs but PS console always got the best ones and well you see what happend when you try to move one series to another direction.
RE4 for gc very horrible patethic sales this game needed to be back home.
and RE is a Capcom game third parti i say nintendo big games are always rated ”E” = more sales= for kids.
When nintendo makes something like God of War rated ”M” then they will be on right track. for now
nintendo is just for kidsand the games totally suck and are boring now.
October 21st, 2006 at 8:35 pm
It’s true, the PS1 was a disk drive for Nintendo, but Nintendo said no, who the hell needs discs…
The rest is history…

“Heheh, you constantly confuse handhelds with home consoles. Nintendo has a LOT to prove this war around, since they lost so much consumer trust for 2 systems long. I’m never talking about handhelds, because frankly, those things do not interest me in the slightest. And yeah, nintendo is very dead in the console dept. MAYBE Wii will change it, but I heard that story 2 times earlier from ninty’s mouth.”
…And yet this paragraph was only used as a soapbox for your ideals and less of a rebuttal of mine.
“But, I’m sure you won’t realis this. ‘’Nintendo made gaming possible!’’ Sure, and I wear purple panties.”
You sure must like wearing those purple panties.
“I think the ps1 did a lot more for gaming than the Nintendo 8 / 16 bit / N64 / gamecube, did combined.”
The PS1 didn’t revive the video gaming market, now did it?
“From a demographical standpoint (x amount of users / n years). There was never any revival in the games market, there has been only growth”
While this istrue, a “revival” can be considered very rapid growth. From Wikipedia:
“The crash was followed by a gap of two years, during which there was a much smaller market in games for home computers in North America, and no significant development for video game consoles.”
Nintendo changed that and brought back the market, while increasing it compared to what it had been before.
“If it wasnt nintendo, it would have been sega, amiga, atari, comodore etc etc etc”
Atari was HARDLY in a place to reboot the industry, being as they lost so much with their consoles at the time. Also,Sega only started to make the Master system once the NES was released. Remember, the market for Video games was incredibly small, so no company wolud try to make another console.
“The games market has always grown since day 1. Stop pouring crap out of your ass emerald, I warned you about this earlier.”
So we’re IGNORING the 1983 market crash? Sure. Let’s ignore WWII while we’re at it.
“But as you say, I’m only a fanboy who’s trying to cloud your perfecty fine reasoning as a fully independant gamer!”
You know someone’s a fanboy when they can’t spell independent.
October 23rd, 2006 at 2:26 pm
North America had the only market for gaming at the time, being that Atari and many Game manufacturers were from America.
Yes, Wikipedia, a PEER REVIEWED system is biased. It’s not like THAT statement was total crap to discredit a perfectly good source.

‘ ‘ Eehm, ohh ah that explains it’s the 2nd best selling system ever (next to ps2) which totally ruined Nintendo out of the console market! Thanks for pointing this useful fact out;) ‘ ‘
True that. nintendo has been going down the hill anyways console-sale wise its beacuase people are tired of the same of crap generation after generation i feel the pain.
this new gen. alot of people will know some more 25 year old mario with some stupid gimmick tweaks will not be good excuse to put 250$ for a modified game cube with zero features and no dvd playback and will give tons of profit to kidtendo since day one.
‘ ‘ if Nintendo didn’t set the standard with games like Mario and Zelda back on the NES, video games would have either died due to lack of popularity ‘ ‘
Hahahaha i know alot of people here arent even old enough to know who really invented home console. and it wasnt kidtendo thats for sure.
Atari was the 1st home made console to ever sell it was a hugeeeee step from arcade gaming which is from where the industry lead to from its thanks to arcade game those huge machine you put some coins there to play and when you die put some more coins !
the real classic for me are the likes of Pong,Pac Man,Space invander’s ect. those are the ones that totally change the gaming for ever.
listen kids if it wasnt from atari who got the balls to go againts arcade industries and decided to bring home gaming to your home. nintendo and consoles would have never existed and would still be selling pokewmon cards in Japan.
‘ ‘ It’s true, the PS1 was a disk drive for Nintendo, but Nintendo said no, who the hell needs discs…
The rest is history ‘ ‘
Yeah thats true it was nintendo’s fault.
thanks to nintendo wanting all the money for them selfs that the most revolutionary and the 2nd best console ever made was born and it also made huge record sales.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:06 am
“True that. nintendo has been going down the hill anyways console-sale wise its beacuase people are tired of the same of crap generation after generation i feel the pain”
Thank you for discribing the Playstation line.
“this new gen. alot of people will know some more 25 year old mario with some stupid gimmick tweaks will not be good excuse to put 250$ for a modified game cube with zero features and no dvd playback and will give tons of profit to kidtendo since day one.”
Oh yes, because PROFIT is BAD. Shaka, come back when you’ve passed 6th grade economics.
“Hahahaha i know alot of people here arent even old enough to know who really invented home console. and it wasnt kidtendo thats for sure.”
No, that was the creator of the Magnavox Odyssey. Nintendo just revived the Video Game market.
“Atari was the 1st home made console to ever sell it was a hugeeeee step from arcade gaming which is from where the industry lead to from its thanks to arcade game those huge machine you put some coins there to play and when you die put some more coins !”
Atari was FAR from “Home made”, shaka. However, the Pong Magnavox Odyssey was the first Home Console.
“listen kids if it wasnt from atari who got the balls to go againts arcade industries and decided to bring home gaming to your home. nintendo and consoles would have never existed and would still be selling pokewmon cards in Japan.”
Shaka needs do do research. Atari wasn’t the first home console. No, that again. is the Magnavox Odyssey.
“Yeah thats true it was nintendo’s fault.
thanks to nintendo wanting all the money for them selfs that the most revolutionary and the 2nd best console ever made was born and it also made huge record sales.”
Still hasn’t sold better than the Game Boy.

So Shaka, people are sick of the same crap? So nobody cares about Zelda: Twilight Princess? It’s only one of, if not the most anticipated game in the history of the industry. And as far as profit goes, Nintendo is the only company actaully selling thier console for profit, both Sony and MS sell theirs at a loss. And yes, the Game Boy is by far the best selling video game platform in history. And people don’t wan’t to pay $250 for a new way to play video games? So the analog stick was a complete failure? So nobody likes 3D games? Nintendo’s new controller is anything but a gimmick. It opens up many more ways to play than any other controller on the market. I don’t know about you, but I would rather play a FPS in which I actually aim my weapon rather than fondle a little stick to aim. As for DVD playback, who cares? Everybody already owns a DVD player, so why up the price by including the necessary hardware for DVD playback? And there will in fact be a peripheral that allows it to play DVDs if you wish to buy it, which is a much better option than paying for it if you don’t want/need it. Only the most diehard of MS and Sony fanboys, or the newest of newbies (like those who started playing video games this generation) think that Nintendo’s new console is nothing but a gimmick. Those of us who have been playing video games for nearly 2 decades are in fact, and I’ll quote you here Shaka, “are tired of the same crap generation after generation”, that being the same old uninventive games and equally uninventive ways to play them. Nintendo has been the agent of innovation through every generation. With games such as Mario and Zelda, Nintendo set the standard for mwhat a video game could be, and other companies started taking notice. Of all the games today, few of them reach the level quality set by those revolutionary titles. SMB is an icon of level design and compelling gameplay elements, and Zelda was a massive adventure, filled with secrets, numerous enemies, boss battles, and various tools and weapons. No games during that time came even close to what those games achieved, and you mean to tell me that Nintendo did not revive the industry and ultimately bring it to the level of popularity that it’s at now? Maybe you should let history do the talking, not your narrow-minded baised ideals.
December 18th, 2006 at 6:43 am
i just have to say that i have been playing video games for over 20 years now i have owned many systems from nes to wii and ive had many sega and atari products, i even bought the damn jaguar. nintendo is the leading innovator of next generation gaming, i am not baised to nintendo, i love all video games, but the nintendo company has done more for the industry in the last three years than sony has done in its entire gaming existance. the psp is a joke The DS sells 7 handhelds to every one psp, and y ? if i wanted to play ps1 games ill pull the ps1 out of the shoebox in my basement or buy the games on ps2. the only company that in my opinion ever was big competion for nintendo was sega, and they were only in the race still cuz of sonic the hedge hog, and we all know what happened to sega!
