Zelda Twilight Princess GC Version Limited To Online Order In Japan

Nintendo has revealed that the GameCube version of Zelda Twilight Princess will only be available through an online order in Japan, and not in stores like the Wii version. The game is still on track for a December 2 release, after being delayed on the GameCube for over a year.
The main reason for Nintendo to do this is to avoid both versions of the game in stores at the same time. Because of the Wii launch, they would much rather see the Wii Zelda sell than the GameCube version, and that wouldn’t be a guarantee if the two versions are on the same shelf. There is no information on whether this will be the same procedure in Europe and US.

This is plain wrong Nintendo. U know your Wii is going to be a mega smash in Japan so why isolate the people who aren’t going to get a Wii and just have a Cube. Causing Cube owners so much trouble for what. Anyone who didn’t trade in their Cube atleast deserves an easy purchase of Zelda. They better not do that here in the USA . It makes more sense to me that they only make LOZTP purchasable online here since there will be more doubters about the Wii here then Japan.

I been saying this for a while the delay of the game wasnt to put some stupid mini games to be compatible with the wii gimmick.
it was just to put it on launch with the wii = good sales amount ninty and zelda fans.
now no gc version. hahahahaha this game was supposed to come out in the USA november last year and now this.
bad move nintendo im sick of your stupid moves just to milk your fanbase (n-ds lite anyone?)
Screw you nintendo you are the worst gaming company ever.

Saw E3 footage, fishing was original.
Animation, graphics, sounds and interface sucked very very heavy.
I give it a 6- for the fishing part. But people who don’t like that shouldn’t buy, seriously.

“it was just to put it on launch with the wii = good sales amount ninty and zelda fans.”
I strongly agree $haka. This game is way overdue and Nintendo knew from a business standpoint that launching it for the Wii and delaying the Cube version would force people to buy a Wii who wanted Zelda now. This will fatten Ninty’s pocket but it won’t lessen mine. I’m still getting the Cube version.

Hehe, indeed. But it’s an old trick. However, the wii version will just have a more original control method. The graphics wont differ as much as it’s in essence just a n64 with turbo button glued on it.

wups, gamecube sorry hehe I confuse these 2 from time to time:P (both failures so)

Come on Doom the Gamecube was not a n64 with a turbo button. It was just a good console that got lost in direction and finally finished the race, 3 days after the competitors. But 4real Nintendo thought they could do the same things over again and be successful but they were wrong. On top of that Microsoft completlely blindsided Ninty. Nintendo just couldn’t keep and get any big exlusives.
There was just no audience for the GameCube but kids and Nintendo fans. When the Cube gets pushed to the limit and developers are actually not afraid of doing something mature for the Gamecube, the end result is Resident Evil 4. Even though the sales weren’t as good as they could be and it got ported to the PS2. It is still a great example of the Cube being used to the fullest and you get one of the best games of all time.
The Cube just didn’t have those cool,M-rated, good games like Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, Grand Theft Auto, and others. If Nintendo would have put some effort into getting the Cube online (WHICH IT CAN!) and deliver some of those games I just mentioned then maybe we could have quite different comments on this website.

Probably yes. But that is a thing of the past now. The wii will have regain some market this time for ninty to be even taken seriously in the console market.
I’d say farcry is a good start (even though the first impressions are bad)

The Wii should regain some market if Nintendo doesn’t mess up again.

My Gamecube is my gaming platform of choice and I’m not a Nintendo fanboy. I love the Gamecube because it is an underrated 3rd Place console similar to Dreamcast and Jaguar, Saturn, Intellivision, etc. (all the bad consoles) I will not bash the Wii because everyone has different tastes. It is not fair for Wii owners to diss Gamecube because some of them had a Gamecube in the past.
Just because the Wii hyped-popular doesn’t mean you can diss another Nintendo Console. It’s plain unfair. We Gamecube owners always take dirt especially from our other Nintendo cousins.
Anyway, I have: Animal Crossing, Intellivision Lives, and Wind Waker in my Gamecube collection. I don’t like the Wii even though I played Wii Sports, Zelda Wii, Rayman Raving Rabbids on store kiosks. The console isn’t for me, even though Nintendo wants you to think that the Wii will attract non-gamers and lapsed even Gamecube gamers. I’m used to the C-Stick, and thats fine by me.
I do plan to ditch this next-gen gaming era and my next console will be retrogaming, not Virtual Consoles, ok, real Dreamcast, old Lynx. Gamers make different choices, so I don’t need to follow what others play, to enjoy gaming, you follow your own path.
So I will plan to get Twilight Princess on the Gamecube and also Super Paper Mario (it will come out as a GCN version too.) around 1/20/07.
If you look at my Gamecube collection: You can tell I’m this artistic gamer who is looking for “Joy” and “Art” in games at the same time:
Animal Crossing (Gamecube) has open-endedness
(I played the DS version and prefer GCN over it.)
more stuff, ACRES.
Intellivision Lives! (also Xbox / PS2 versions try it.)
I love this game compliation, has very original (correctly emulated games from INTV developers)
My favorite is Sharp Shot, B-17 Bomber, Thunder Castle.
Wind Waker has I think the best art direction in Zelda games out there, the cel-shading is unbelievable. If you don’t appriciate art, well, this game isn’t for you.
The Wind Wisps are great. Kiddy game? This isn’t Dora the Explorer. I don’t think so, there is more drama in this game especially the Ganondorf battle.
Twilight Princess. Would be a great companion to my Wind Waker, with Real-Matured graphics, but importantly I will get this game because it is similar in Epic, Art, and Vastness in contrast to novels and books we read as a child. I’ve seen Google videos of Link running across Hyrule Field and that sold me. I’m not a timeline Zelda fanatic who praises a true timeline either. Twilight Princess has magic, lore, and this dark damp look. It does belong in a museum.
Super Paper Mario (if it comes out for GCN) I think is similar to Flatland (anyone read that?) Another artistic game. I don’t own Paper Mario TYYD, because I didn’t like the gameplay (too RPG for me). 2D- 3D shifts are cool in Super Paper Mario. If you’ve seen the videos, I mean 8-bit Mario. Theres Nostalgia. This will supplement my orginal SMB inside Animal Crossing indeed.
So you heard it from me. A unique gamer. A Gamecube Gamer who is willing not to follow the rules of Nintendo. I feel sorry for people who get peer pressured at games because their friends own a Wii or this or that.
If you want to enjoy gaming, play the games you like.
Don’t spoil it for us. Especially the hardcore Zelda Wii people who plan to bash Gamecube owners for getting the Wii because it will ruin their Wii launch lineup. Whatever. So any Gamecube owner, why spend $250 + $50 just to play Zelda on a Wii. Owning a dead-console means your part of the Abandonware, Retrogaming, last-generation and I think thats cool.
Buy Zelda Twilight Princess for Gamecube and oh yea, the Map of Hyrule is in its original placement, just as Link is left-handed. The Wii Version of TP has Hyrule flipped on its side.
Final note: Buy Zelda Twilight Princess on the Gamecube.
You’ll love it. And your C-Stick will be there for you.
