October 14th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Articles, Business, E3
The Entertainment Software Association has released some news on the downsized version of E3, which will take place from July 11-13, 2007 in Santa Monica, California. The ESA confirmed that E3 2007 will be by invitation-only, and not open to the public as previous events. There is no information on whether Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft will have their annual press conferences prior to E3. ESA president Doug Lowenstein says:
“The new E3 event will be more personal, efficient, and focused, and it will provide the top stakeholders who make games, sell games, and cover games streamlined access to the people and products they most need to see,”
It will be a “from business to business” event, excluding gamers and general public. Display areas are also limited to 100-400 square feet, no more giant booths that were the trademark of previous events.

That is really a shame that the show is now by invite only. This means most of the people that are going to actually spend their hard-earned dollars won’t be allowed to partake in the fun. Oh well I guess I better find an industry job or a good contact by then. Man Santa Monica is so cool and I’m only a five hour drive away.

It’s just not the same. E3 was the superbowl event of video games and nothing will ever replace it. Atleast it isn’t gone completely.

No not superbowl, it’s an american event only. E3 was the worlds biggest game convention, kinda like the olympics for sport

Yeah ur right Kaiser the Super Bowl is an american event. I would say that E3 was the World Cup of video game conventions.
