Microsoft Reveals 100GB Xbox360 Drive

During the X06 event in Korea, Microsoft unveiled several new peripherals, including a 256MB memory unit, wireless gaming receiver, and more interestingly, a 100 GB drive for the Xbox360. The current 20 GB drive comes with the premium Xbox360 pack, or can be bought for $100 as a stand-alone product. This could indicate a very hefty price for the new, 2,5″ 100 GB hard drive, when it launches sometime in March 2007.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! yeah man … 60 what? Seriously though I wonder how much they are going to charge for that if the 20 gB is 100 man is it going to cost over $200? Now that might end up being kind of a problem for them [MS]. If you add that costs (which is a very low guess) plus the $200 HD-DVD add-on you end up with a premium system that is actually $200 more than Sony’s offering (40 GB more can’t justify that much of higher price … especially when lots of us have been complaining about the PS/3’s price) … that won’t work to be honest. I sincerely hope MS figures this pricing thing out.

My thoughts exactly. It’s just smart salesmanship, like the good old remote story by xbox1 if yo uwanted to watch a dvd.

Microsoft already said this was photoshopped and it was not true. old news.

Now MS is saying that they are NOT developing a 100GB drive for the market … but a lot of people are saying they are using semantics and the next drive will actually be 80 or 150 GB not 100 so MS is not saying there will not be another drive just not saying what size it will be … at least that is the thinking on a lot of sites. I think they have to release something within the next 6 months but at this point maybe it’s not so necessary … we’ll see.
