Halo Movie Cancelled
Universal Studios have cancelled the upcoming Halo movie, originally scheduled for release in 2008. Their main reason is the rising costs, rumored to be almost $200 million at this point. In addition, Microsoft wanted 10% of the revenue, which made the stakes even higher for Universal Studios and Fox, who were co-financing the movie.
Universal and Fox studios also expressed their doubt in the young director, South African Neil Bloomkamp, who has never done a feature film before. So far it’s only been one short film, in addition to being a 3D animator on Smallville and Stargate. The producers however, including Peter Jackson, are confident in Neil, and say that they will be looking for other production companies interested in doing the movie. Microsoft is said to be in talks with other distribution companies already.

I kind of expected this too happen once they picked they that Director that no one has ever heard of and who has NO feature films to his credit. I really think this project is beyond him. If PJ would have been the director there was no way this would be cancelled. Oh well we will just have to see what ends up happening. Too bad though for us Halo and Master Chief fans … I was really looking forward to the special effects from PJ’s studios … damn.

If fat assed Peter Jackson had gotten off his lazy butt and actually directed it, they would have sustained finance, instead all he wanted to do was invest and collect on the franchise. When will good films be made from good games… at this rate, never.

Jackson is too scared to direct it, if it flops, which it most likely will, the director is the first one to blame.

John, PJ isn’t a fat ass anymore and in a wierd way that is part of the problem … now that he has slimmed down and gotten kind of hollywood and a bit full of himself he isn’t the same dude who did the LTR trilogy … or couldn’t anyone tell by that King Kong Movie he had started to develop a swelled head. I am inclined to believe Jim2k although I keep hearing that he is the director for The Hobbit movie so perhaps he really is too busy with that project to direct Halo.

Hey, calm down guys. It’s not the end of the world. Why are you starting to attack Peter Jackson, his persona and his physical condition. If it wasn’t for him, the project wouldn’t have got in production in the first place. Remember that. Besides, as of right now, he is not officially attached to direct The Hobbit, but is busy with other projects

No one attacked his physical condition I don’t think … but his personality … yeah … I do think he has changed a bit and become slightly arrogant … but I could be wrong. About the Hobbit what is up with that movie? I was positive he was going to direct that as well. Well what is his next big Directing gig? I mean Peter Jackon’s King Kong The Movie … c’mon … he could have done something more substantial than that and not put his name in the movie title. But again it’s just my perception nothing more or less.

There is a lot of work going on regarding The Hobbit. Peter Jackson only bought the rights to make Lord Of The Rings, and not The Hobbit. But after the succes of LOTR, every studio who has had the slightest contact with Hobbit wants to make it. I think it’s Miramax who has the rights for it, but I’m not 100% sure, nore is anybody else, so fuck it. But on the other hand, rumors have surfaced the last couple of months that production on The Hobbit are about to begin next year or something. But what do I know. I just hope Jackson is doing that one too. His next directorial gig has been rumored to be a really small film. I think after almost ten years of gigantic productions, he just wants to make a cute small movie. As long as he is productive in some sort of way, I’m happy

Peter jackson sucks major cock. Why? He’s got attitude. Yeah yeah, the lord of the rings was biig money, and yeah it was cool in a very hectic way.
But king kong, c’mooon! I really hate the way he’s trying to profilate himself as a arthouse filmmaker, while he’s obviously from the emptyheaded blockbuster side of town. (oh while I write this I see anuban has already said this in less words, wups:P)
He should have stayed with creating stuff like his old classics like: ‘bad taste’ and ‘braindead’ (co-produced). He’s great at making pulp and he should continue doing it. So it was a good thing that he’d make halo (then he wouldn’t get his greasy fingers on promising movie scripts)

This movie was gonna suck anyway just like most video game movies. Halo hype and money killed the project. Just cause Peter Jackson is involved doesn’t mean it was going to be good. For all we know Microsoft paid Peter Jackson to act like he played an integral part of the production when in fact he didn’t. The Xbox fanboys are gonna be mad about this.

Yeah true that STD, however I do like the game video movies usually because they are so bad. They make me laugh a lot (when I’m very drunk). But yeah the movies are never any good:P If all of youse wondering what I’m talking about, watch these and enjoy:
1. Street Fighter
2. Mortal Kombat
3. Doom (doh)

I’ve watched all of those and the worst one was Street Fighter. Dhalsim was a scientist. Dee Jay was a henchman. The whole story was about Guile and not Ryu. That was the worst video game movie ever! Mortal Kombat 2me was pretty decent. The fight scenes (although are outdated) are still pretty good. They got all the characters right. Doom was just dumb. The Rock turning into a zombie was stupid. It looked like a Sci-Fi original movie and you guys know how bad and cheesy they are.

Nooo man it was fun! Raoul Julia as M. bison, maan c’mon it was so hilarious. You can’t expect a video based om a 300 word story from a game manual to containt depth anyway!
I really liked taht the best in doom! where he turns ape and starts killing off people, really it was hilarous! But then again, I was drunk. I dont even wanna think about how it would have been if I was nsober. But imo all game-movies are cheesy.

What about Mario brothers? That also sucked big time. I’m just hoping that they do a good job on God of War. Being my favorite console game ever I am really looking forward to that movie.
