No 100 GB Xbox360 Hard Drive
October 24th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Business
Microsoft has denied rumors of a 100GB hard drive for the Xbox360, company said in a recent statement.
“The reference to a 100GB hard drive in a recent presentation in Korea has been misleading, and in fact we have no plans to bring a 100GB hard drive to the market. We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.”
The rumors surfaced last week during the X06 event in South Korea, where a PowerPoint slides revealed new products and a 100 GB hard drive, said to be released in 2007. While denying the rumor, Microsoft didn’t deny similar plans of introducing a new hard drive in the future,
“The device is modular, and there’s the possibility that different hard drives will be available in the future.”
Considering the popularity of downloads on Xbox Live, and that rival PS3 has a 60 GB hard drive, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Microsoft to introduce a new and somewhat bigger hard drive in the future.

I’m sure the 100GB HDD will be available at a later stage, or any size that equals or is bigger than the 20GB the current HDD has.
I think MS is just trying to comfort consumers that they are doing the right thing by purchasing a stand-alone HDD for their core 360 or premium 360 with included 20GB HDD now instead of waiting.
