Rumor: Halo 3 Demo Coming Early 2007

October 25th, 2006 Posted in News

GameInformerOnline has reported that there may be a Halo 3 demo coming in the first half of 2007. As always, Microsoft hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumor, so this is all unconfirmed at the moment.

GameInformerOnline also seems to predict that Microsoft might charge for the Halo 3 demo, unlike previous demos on Xbox Live which were free. If Microsoft did put a price on the Halo 3 demo, it wouldn’t make much difference, since many gamers would put down a ton of money just to play a short part of Halo 3.

Of couse they’ll charge for it, now that they know people would pay to try the game… And others will follow, and charge for their demos.

Pretty soon it’ll be THE place to get ripped off, the xbox live marketplace.

If anyone pays for a demo they really need their head examined … the whole point of a demo is that you see a bit and then you are supposed to get excited and go buy the game. This just flat out sucks. Wow what the hell is going on with this industry these days?

  3. Gareth Says:

Could that be because the PS3 isn’t for sale yet and it’s not even possible to connect to its online service?

    Idiot.

  4. Zac Shipley Says:

I’d pay 5 bucks, especially if its a multiplayer demo.

Thing is, I wouldn’t pay for a demo of a game I know nothing about. But I liked Halo 1 and 2 enough to know that I’ll end up buying 3 and that if the demo is months ahead of the release, then 5 bucks is small to ask for being able to play, learn the new controls, and possibly learn a new map.

  5. Gareth Says:

I don’t cry about paying for quality. You get what you pay for, and Sony’s online “service” on the PS2 wasn’t even worthy of my laughter let alone my money. Looking forward to seeing PS3’s online “service” going the same way.

Oh my God you’ve been sucking Sony so hard I’m surprised they have a cock left!

Let’s go through your post bit by bit shall we?

“The games that where online have been working perfectly. But you dont know that, because you have to keep playing with your monthly fee. *snigger*”

Wow, all 3 games with online support work perfectly… for those who actually have a network adaptor or a slimline PS2. So while I get to choose from a library of literally thousands of games to play online, you’re licking posters of Ken Kataragi and just imagining what a library of that size would feel like online.

“Anyway, it’s already been proven that the ps3 works online perfectly.”

Yes, with a maximum of 3 consoles online. If they couldn’t even get that to work then they’d all deserve to be shot. Just wait until they have greater numbers out there though! Xbox Live is already running 4 million users perfectly.

“And due to the low amount of units the sonyboys will have plenty of time to set up servers to see the needs.”

LOL so they’re going to be patching it up even as you’re tossing over your PS3 on launch day? What professionalism!

“By the way, did you know taht the amound of ps2 users on the internet is 6 times more then xbox live suscribers?”

Yes I was aware that there are 10 times more PS2s out there than Xboxes but only 6 times more online subscribers, resulting in a much lower percentage of online users per console. And yes I am aware that this is because Sony’s online service sucks almost as hard as you do. And yes I am aware that Sony has basically chosen the same route with the PS3 where online content is “up to the developers” and have supplied 0 guidelines or framework. A cop-out as usual.

“I bet you didnt know that did you?”

Didn’t know what? That you’re full of shit? Unfortunately I have been made *very* aware of that.

  7. gareth agreer Says:

hell yea x360 rox!!! go gareth!!!

  8. Anuban Says:

I still refuse to pay for a demo … even the Halo 3 demo and I love Halo and I am a big proponent of the 360. I really don’t think they will do this. At least I hope they don’t go this route … it would be as bad as EA charging for cheats or for extra content that is already in the game. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed.
