Peter Jackson’s production company, WingNut Films, has announced that the Halo movie is being postponed indefinitely. When we last heard about the movie, Universal and Fox had pulled out due to high production costs, rumored to be hovering around $200 million.
WingNut Films has released the following statement:
At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans…of bringing a first class film to the big screen. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait
No, this doesn’t mean the end of the Halo movie, but this does mean we’ll have to wait longer to see it. As we mentioned last month, Microsoft is already looking for new distribution companies.
