EA Predicts PS3 Shortages
November 4th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Business, Wii, Xbox360
EA CFO Warren Jenson warned that Sony’s PlayStation 3 will suffer shortages in the States this Christmas. During the conference call (where EA also revealed several new games), Jenson said,
“We’re thinking that with PlayStation 3 in North America, the [shipment] range is probably 500,000 to 800,000.”
Jenson added that it will be as difficult to get hold of a PS3 console this year as it was with the Xbox360 a year ago. Sony has previously said that they expect over 2 million PS3 units to be ready for the North American market in 2006.
EA also predicted that Nintendo will whip between 900,000 and 1.4 million Wii units to North America in 2006, contrary to Nintendo’s announcement of 4 million Wiis in North America in 2006.

I find it hard to believe that Nintendo might not be able to produce as many Wii consoles as they anounced. If anything they probably told us that they had less than they really do, not more.
